[ Chapter 25 ]

Y/n's pov.  

" We're setting out to the boarders tonight to increase security, so might be back tomorrow morning " Ellis said as she sharpens her sword with the stone.

" Oh, fun " I look over to sarcastic Cade who's grumbling on his chair and mom beside him checking his arm.

" Oh please, it's not fun when you have to be awake for the entire night " Austin said as he ties the laces of his boots.

" Your not going to the boarders " Ellis said.

" I was just saying " he said.

" Where are you going? " Cade asked.

" A commission " Austin said.

I transfer the cinnamon buns from the tray to the cloth to wrap it around, the buns are freshly baked.

" I want the experience to know what it feels like! " Cade exclaims.

" Oh stop being a baby, you need a few more weeks and it's dangerous, I'm glad your not going " mom kisses Cade's head after putting his sling on.

He grumbles under his breath.

" I had to get some extra sleep for it, now I just want to sleep all day " Luciana enters this kitchen with her arms stretched and covering her mouth as she yawns.

" Nope, your just lazy " I said and tie the cloth around the buns.

" No I'm not " she said.

" You kind of are " I see Cleo enters the room with her backpack.

" Says the heavy sleeper " Luciana said and Cleo scoffs.

" Alright, no arguments this will be a long night for all of you " mom said as I pass her the packed buns.

" I made food enough for all of you, make sure to stay hydrated and plenty of rest when you can get one " mom pass it off to them.

" Cleo, this is yours, it doesn't have peanut butter in it " I said as I tie the last cloth and she approaches.

" Sweet " she said and put it in her backpack.

I take a bite of my bun and Austin gets up after tying his shoelace, Ellis sheathes her sword while the twins check the durability of their bow string, Cade's beside me eating too.

" Be careful, I don't want any of you coming back with a scratch " mom hugs them and kisses their forehead.

Cade and I watch before we look at each other and gag in unison, but we held it in and swallow our buns.

" Where's dad? " Luciana asked.

" He's still at the palace stuck on paperwork, same with gramps " I said.

" Don't worry about them, now take care of yourself " mom said and hug Luciana.

" Bye! " Cleo walks out of the room as the other follows.

As soon as they turn a corner, we hear them talking but it fades and leaves the room in silence with Cade, mom and I alone. I see mom sighs as she stands there.

" Are you okay mom? " I asked.

She turns around to us and nod.

" I'm exhausted, finish your dinner, clean up then head to sleep, also save some for your father and gramps " she said and yawn walking out of the kitchen.

Cade and I look at each other before glancing down at the tray with five cinnamon buns left.
