Y/n's pov.  

" I apologize for not being there "

" It's okay, Kaito, you should head back to sleep " I said.

" Are you sure? " He asked and I see his horns are out and slightly glowing from the light of the lantern.

I nod to him.

" Thank you " I said.

He hesitated to bow before he leaves through the other door.

I open the drawer beside me and arranged new bottles of essential oils in their slots, I sniffle to my nose being very stuffy as I tuck my bangs behind my ear to get it out of my face and see things clearly.

Knock knock knock

I lift my head quickly and backed up but hit the cart behind me so I hold it to not fall over, looking at the door to see Ein standing there, he winces as he put down his hand from the door.

" Sorry, didn't mean to startle you " he said.

I clear my throat as I stand properly and adjust my hair on my shoulder since I took off the hairpin earlier and let it down.

" That's fine " I said.

He looks around this storage room as he enter and approach me, I just stand here and wait for him until he stood right in front of me, we look at each other awkwardly until he spoke.

" Were you crying? " He asked.

I turn around as I sniffle and place the back of my hand against my cheek to feel if any tears was streaming down but it's already dry.

" It's nothing " I said then continue on arranging the bottles.

" What brings you here? " I asked as I put them in the other drawers as well.

" Your grandfather told my mother and I of what happened, I came as quick as I could " he said.

I place my palm above the many corks of bottle as I stare at my hand, the image flashed again and I continue on to arrange them and putting in new stock.

" It's just a few stitches, I will be fine " I said.

I see his hand placed over mine and stop me from putting another bottle in the drawer, I turn my head to him and he tilt his head with concerned eyes.

" He told us everything " he said.

I swallow a lump in my throat before lifting my head and exhaling to try and not cry again about it.

" You can talk to me " he step closer to me and I lower my head as I look at his hand that's holding mine.

" My dad already consulted with me, I don't feel like talking about it again " I said.

I feel his hand loosen around mine before letting go and taking back his hand.

" Do you need anything then?, It's still early in the night, you should get some rest " he said.

I shut the drawer after putting in the last bottle then just turn around to him.

" I appreciate the concern, but I don't think I'll be able to sleep after that, I just need a distraction for now " I said.

We stood silently in this dim room only with the one lantern lit to help us see each other, he then reach in behind his belt then take out something.

" G/f/n told me to return this to you " he said and I look over to his hand where the hairpin is.

It's clean and the small blade is in it's sheathe, I lift my hand and about to take it when I notice my fingers are slightly trembling, Ein seem to notice it because he holds my hand again.
