The Dare

"Willow," Luz said. "Truth or dare?"

The green-eyed witch thought for a moment. "Truth," she decided.

The Hexsidian Squad was having a slumber party at Willow's house. After an intense pillow fight, they all agreed to play a game that required less energy. And of course, what's a slumber party without a harmless game of truth or dare?

"Hmm." Suddenly Luz leaned forward, an idea hitting her. "What's the most dangerous plant you've ever taken care of or grown?"

"I haven't grown a lot of dangerous plants," Willow responded thoughtfully. "But I've taken care of a gympie gympie before." She shuddered. "Touching the leaves will make you feel like you've been burned by boiling rain."

"That sounds awful," Amity said. "Did you get stung?"

Willow shook her head. "Nope. I was careful. Your turn, Amity. Truth or dare?"

"Dare," Amity said.

The plant girl thought for a moment, then gave her a knowing grin. "I dare you to kiss your crush."

Amity took a brief side-glance at Luz and felt herself blush. "What if my crush isn't here?" She asked testily. Beside her, Luz's expression fell a little, but it went unnoticed by the others.

Willow narrowed her eyes. She knew full well who Amity liked, and she was with them right now. "Then you have to kiss them whenever you see them next," she answered.

The lilac-haired girl gave her another glare, then turned to the girl beside her. "Uhm, Luz," she started awkwardly. The human girl felt her heart inflate hopefully. "Yes?" She replied, eyes sparkling like shining stars.

The witch gave her a look. "You know what," she said, and cut off Luz's laugh by leaning forward and kissing her.

After a moment they pulled away, their cheeks pink, and faced Willow and Gus. Amity had to smother a giggle at their shocked expressions.

"Wow, you actually did it," Willow said, her tone wondrous. This time neither Amity or Luz could hide their reaction. They took one look at each other and burst out laughing.

"What? What's going on?" Gus asked.

Luz clutched her stomach and regained her composure. "Sorry, guys. Amity and I actually wanted to tell you something."

"We started dating a few days ago," Amity confessed. "We were going to tell you guys, but it looks like you beat us to it." She nodded at Willow.

"You scared me when you asked about your crush not being in the room!" Luz exclaimed. "I thought you liked someone else or something!"

Amity shook her head and put her arm around her girlfriend's shoulder. "Sorry, I was just testing Willow's commitment to the dare," she said apologetically. "I would never do that to you."

"Wait," Gus interrupted. "When did this happen? How long- how- why-?"

"On Saturday," Luz explained. "There was this big spectacle of Hooty trying to set us up, and then me ruining it, and then Eda encouraging me to do it anyway, and then us asking each other out."

"And you didn't tell us any of this?" Willow asked, perplexed.

"Sorry," Luz said. "We were going to, but..." she trailed off.

"Well, that's one way to tell someone," Gus remarked.

Luz laughed and Amity fingered her shirt nervously. "We wanted to tell you today, actually, but I didn't know when or how to do it and it never seemed like the right time and I know this was probably a bad time to tell you guys but-" Luz put a hand over hers reassuringly.

"It's okay," Willow said. "It was kind of funny, actually."

"Yeah," Gus chimed in. "Surprising, but funny."

"Surprising?" echoed Willow. "I thought it was very obvious."

He shrugged. "It wasn't to me."

Amity huffed and Luz gave her a tender smile. "It wasn't to me, either," she said.

Her girlfriend only gave her a stare. "That's because you're dense as a rock," she teased.

"I-" Luz stopped and pouted. "Guess I can't argue with that."

"Soo...are we going to keep playing the game?" Gus asked.

"Sure!" Luz enthused. "Amity, it's your turn next."

Laughter floated out of the room as they continued playing the game. That night was definitely one to remember.
