Amity was used to being alone. Her whole life, she'd been weighed down by expectations and standards. Of course, it was easier to ignore when she was younger, because she had Willow. Somehow, impossibly, Willow had decided that she was interesting enough to be her friend. And for that little while, she had a friend. Someone to talk to, and share memories with.
And then her parents sabotaged it. They took away the one person in her life that had ever made her happy.
And slowly, painstakingly, Amity's life began to slip away from her. She was forced to become friends with witches she didn't care about, and spend every crumb of energy that remained after school doing homework and perfecting her grades. Her siblings turned rebellious and annoying, constantly pranking her and getting into trouble. And her parents' rules became stricter every day.
No one cared about her. Not really.
Sometimes she wished that she had real friends. There were times, alone in her room, when she let her mind out of the grip she usually kept it in. She would pull out her scroll, hoping against hope that someone had texted her with even a simple, "Hey. How are you?" or "Are you okay?" Hoping desperately that someone cared enough to see how she was doing.
But every time she checked, there was nothing.
So she would steel herself, not wanting to let herself fall into a dark pit of loneliness in fear of feeling weak. She would try to brush it off and continue working.
But the thought plagued her, clinging to her indefinitely until it dragged her into the deep depths of the water. She'd never let it show, but it was a devil whispering in her ear, eating away at her sanity. The only time she let it out was at night, lying in bed, where she would finally let her tears fall. Alone and in the dark as always.
After all, she was Amity Blight. And 'a' stands for alone.

Amity's life had gone significantly uphill since she met Luz. She wasn't alone anymore. She had friends, an awesome girlfriend, and her siblings weren't nearly as headache-inducing as they used to be. She knew that when she felt sad or lonely or frustrated, she could talk to Luz or Willow or even Gus, and they would listen and comfort her.
But even with all of that, there were still moments, alone in the emptiness of her room, when she felt lonely. When she craved to hear Luz's voice, rambling enthusiastically about one of her interests, just to feel at peace again. To feel like she had a connection to someone, someone who thought she was special enough to spend time with.
When those moments happened, she'd revert back to her old habits. She'd pull up her scroll again, hoping for a message...only for there to be nothing.
But then she'd remember that Luz didn't have a scroll, and she'd look at her game device that they used to message each other. And she'd see a message asking how she was or telling her about something that happened in The Owl House, whether new or previous, and she would smile.
Amity wasn't alone anymore.
A/N: Hello. The playlist above is one that I like and fits Amity pretty well, so feel free to listen to it.
This was sort of a vent oneshot where I projected myself onto Amity. Remember, if you feel like this, you aren't alone! There are many people who feel like you do, including me.
