"-Palm Park was where a majority of the Emperor's Coven initiations were held before they relocated..." As the teacher droned on and on about boring historical Emperor's Coven stuff, Luz studied the landscape. She figured it would probably be the only thing she would actually be studying on this field trip.

It was an open field, with strange plants dotted everywhere like splashes of paint on a blank canvas. There were ruins of a grand building ahead of her, which the teacher kept gesturing to dramatically. Just behind her was Fingertip Forest, where there were densely packed trees, as if they all wanted to fit in a small, crowded space.

The class had gone through the forest to get to the field, so Luz knew there wasn't anything too dangerous lurking there. She wished she could hide in there where no one would find her.

Suddenly she was struck by an idea. Her friends and her were near the back of the group. If they were quiet, and if the teacher didn't notice...

She nudged Willow, who was closest to her. "Willow," she whispered. "I have an idea."

The plant witch turned to look at her. "What is it, Luz?"

"We should hide out in the forest!" She pitched enthusiastically. "You can't say you're not bored by his talk of how amazing and superior the Emperor is." She gestured towards the teacher at the front, who had moved on to talk about the Emperor's achievements.

Willow turned back to her. "Alright," she said. "Let's do this."

Quietly they nudged Amity and Gus, in turn, and told them their plan. Amity was a bit reluctant, but Gus was all for it, and eventually they all agreed to do it.

"Gus, can you make us invisible?" Willow asked.

"Yup!" He drew a circle and concentrated for a moment, and then there was a clear bubble around the four of them. They noiselessly moved away from their class and towards the forest.

The illusionist removed the spell as soon as they were hidden by the trees. "Now what?" Amity wondered aloud.

Luz grinned. "Now, we have fun. Have you guys heard of hide and seek?"

For the next half an hour or so they darted around the forest, playing games and laughing. When they started to get tired, they decided to split off into pairs—Gus and Willow and Amity and Luz.

Luz led the purple-haired witch to a fallen tree she had found earlier. "Is this good?" She asked.

"Yeah, this is great. Thank you, Luz," Amity replied.

The human smiled at her. "Of course, mi hermosa novia." The two of them sat down.

For a moment, both of them were silent. Luz glanced over at her girlfriend's solemn expression.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asked.

Amity looked up quickly. "Oh! Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about the Emperor's Coven."

Luz nodded sympathetically. The witch continued, "I'm not sure what to do. I mean, I don't really want to join them now that I know what they truly are and their selfish motivations. But I'm also not sure if I want to throw away my future like that. I don't know what I'd do if I made that choice. And my parents..." Luz put a gentle hand on her shoulder as Amity buried her face in her hands. "...they'd be furious. I don't think I could handle tearing our family apart like that."

The human nodded. "Yeah, I get it. It's either your personal happiness or your family's satisfaction. No in-between."

Amity let out a muffled sigh. "Yeah." She lifted her head from her hands and locked eyes with the latina. "But then there's you. I never want to lose you or do anything to hurt you, and I would follow you across the Boiling Sea, even if that means defying my parents' expectations. Another part of me knows that it's crazy to throw everything up in the air like that just for one person, but I can't help it. You're really special to me, Luz." Her eyes welled up.

Luz felt herself tearing up as well. "You're really special to me too, Amity," she said.

They sat in silence for a moment, thinking their individual thoughts and letting their emotions take hold of them. Luz timidly reached out an arm and Amity gladly accepted, leaning into her.

Luz didn't know what would happen with her and Amity. She didn't know whether her girlfriend would join the Emperor's Coven after all, or refuse to and defy her parents. She didn't know whether or not she, herself, would go back to the human realm or stay in the Boiling Isles with her friends.

But what she did know was that they would figure all of it out—together.
