Chapter 31: Kiss in the Dark
Hanna's POV
"YOU look so dumbstruck, ex-wife," madiing sabi niya sa salita na iyon. "What? Are you surprised to see me again?"
Hindi ko alam kung bakit nagagawa ko pang salubungin 'yong mga mata niya at panoorin siya na suotin ulit 'yong suot niyang mascara bago siya napabalik ng tingin niya sa akin.
"Seeing you wear the usual princess clothes you used to wear, I believed Llyod is giving you a decent life," sabi ulit niya saka niya inayos 'yong suot niyang tuxedo with a grin plastered on his lips.
"What are you doing here, Viel?" At last my find my voice and speak.
"Why? Am I not allowed to go out and have some fun like what you're doing right now?" He answered me with another question.
"Don't tell me you're chasing me again, Viel? I told you, tapos na tayo at kung ano man ang—"
"And who says I'm chasing you again, Hanna?" putol niya sa mga sasabihin ko. "Don't tell me you're thinking that I followed you here just to win your heart again? Aren't you being too full of yourself now, Miss Adriano? Oh! My apologies. Should I start to call you Misis Miranda?"
For a moment, I saw pain flickered on his eyes... o baka guni-guni ko lang din iyon.
Oo nga naman. Tama siya. Sino ba naman ako para habulin pa niya after all these years?
I hurt him. I failed him. I ruined him. Sino nga ba ako para balikan pa niya?
At isa pa, I am a married woman now. Sino nga ba ako para umasa na hahabulin pa niya ako kahit na ilang beses ko na siyang tinulak palayo noon?
"Better take your mask now, Misis Miranda. The masquerade party will start any moment," sabi niya sabay tingin sa likuran niya. "And I think your husband is looking for you right now."
I want to call his name and stop him from walking away from me.
Pero ano bang karapatan ko? Ano bang karapatan ko na pigilan siyang umalis after all the pain and sorrow I gave to him?
I think I didn't even have the right to even call his name nonchalantly.
He seems so different now. Way more different than the Viel I used to know and lived with.
The anger on his tone, the sarcasm, the fury in his eyes. By the moment I realized those, I know I am not allowed to enter his life again anymore.
Siguro nga aksidente lang ang pagkikita namin dito. Aksidente lang na nilapitan niya ako at aksidente lang na nakilala ko siya regardless of his built and look.
Tumigil ka na, Hanna. Set him free, I told myself.
"Hanna!"
Napalingon ako sa may bukana ng veranda nang marinig ko ang boses ni Llyod.
"Saan ka ba nanggaling? Kanina pa kita hinahanap," sabi niya habang hinuhubad niya 'yong coat na suot niya bago niya iyon pinatong sa magkabilang balikat ko. "Halika na sa loob. Malamig na dito."
