Chapter Eighty-Three: Dark Horse

"This is the end. You made your choice and now my chance is over. I thought I was in. You put me down and say I'm going nowhere. Save me darling. I am down, but I am far from over."

I'll tell you now that the fights are less realistic in this one because of the excessive dialogue, so forgive me for that.

Zion's POV

"I'm nervous to fight Tory," I admit to Robby.

We stand to the side of the mat together and try to form a strategy. I've beaten Eli and am now going to the finals against her. My chest tightens at the thought.

"We know all of each other's moves. We've sparred a thousand times and each time we were stuck in a stalemate."

"I think I can help." Daniel.

"How?" I turn to him stiffly as Robby holds my hand protectively.

Johnny comes behind the man. Daniel responds, "You fight for Miyagi-Fang and we'll train you throughout the fight. It's something Silver won't see coming because he doesn't know our moves."

"You just want to win so you don't have to stop teaching. Your top fighters lost and you need a champion," Robby argues as I contemplate my decision.

"We also care about you both. And, we care about The Valley being safe. We're each other's best bet," Johnny steps in.

This is my chance to fight for everyone and prove that I'm changing. The pressure is on... in a good way.

"We don't make deals with you," Robby states.

"I'll do it."

Everyone looks at me in surprise.

"Zion, you don't know them like I do."

"Robby, you need to trust me," I tell him. "This is my decision and I think it could be the only way."

"You know I'm here to support you no matter what," Robby sighs as I hold out my hand to Daniel.

He shakes my hand and we agree on it. Daniel goes over to Daryl as Johnny leads me over to their side of the mat.

"You've got to be kidding me," Demetri mutters as I walks over. Eli still isn't back.

"Hey," Sam gives me a small smile.

"Hi," I nod in response. I can see everyone else between the now-merged dojos looking at me wearily. I did a lot of damage and I know that. I need to try and fix it.

"All set," Daniel comes back over with a smile.

"This is insanity!" Demetri tells Daniel.

"We're on the same team now," the man tells him.

"No way! She's the embodiment of evil. Her 'redemption' is fake. Everything is a lie," the boy argues.

"I've made mistakes in the past, but I don't want to do that anymore," I admit.
