Zion's POV
"So, how did your study date with Hawk go?" Tory asks. She's on her break and we're finally getting the chance to catch up. I'm sitting at the roller rink with her since she had to work and I didn't after karate.
"First of all, it wasn't a date. And second, it sucked. I feel like I'm being led on over and over again. He's just no good for me," I sigh in frustration.
"What did he do?" she asks in concern.
"He was caring and sweet and then... I saw he put another tattoo over the 'Z' one he got for me and it was... a wakeup call," I say. "You know? Like, 'he's over you.' I don't know what he wanted out of the game he was playing, but I'm done being a pawn."
"That's totally valid. I felt the same way with... Miguel," she says and I frown.
"He really did like you, you know," I try to comfort her.
"Yeah? And how did that turn out?" she asks sadly. "I saw them kissing, Z. That was my moment when I realized he was over me. And I guess I went a little overboard with the revenge thing, but LaRusso just pisses me off so much and I wanted her to pay... and this happened."
"I didn't know you saw the kiss. I never really thought about that being how you found out," I say. I've been so caught up in my own problems that I haven't even thought about Tory's, especially after the school fight.
"Listen, I really don't want to badmouth him to you. I know you two are close and... I don't know. How is he?" she asks.
I look down, subconsciously playing with my ring again.
"I actually haven't been to the hospital. I haven't seen him since you last did."
She raises her eyebrows in surprise, "Wow. I thought I was the only one not going to see him with flowers and get-well-soon cards."
"I just can't..." I try to find the words.
"...can't face him after all that's happened," she finishes.
"Exactly," I nod sadly.
"So, what are your plans to get over Hawk?" Tory changes the subject.
"Well, I already changed my tattoo for him. An eye for an eye, if you will," I say and hold out my left wrist.
