Days passed in September and October arrived and the news of the new couple in school spread like a forest fire. Boys and girls were staring at them in jealousy and making rude noises. Though it was more than a little joy for the others.

"He wasn't actually with Lily" James grinned foolishly.

"Mate, no" Sirius responded tiredly.

"I always thought-"

"You think many wrong things, James!" Sirius gave him an irritated look. "Do you even love Evans, anymore?"

James was taken aback by the sudden question. "W-What?"

Sirius looked at him fully in the eye. "Do you even love Lily Evans, anymore?"

"Why would you ask that?" James whispered.

Remus took over. "Because, James, we think it was just a crush, that's over now and you are only trying to hang up on it"

"That's not true" James frowned. Was it? He questioned himself.

"Mate, you can't love someone whom you don't even talk to more than the classes" Sirius rolled his eyes.

"How do you know so much about love?"

Sirius reddened. "Because- you'll just know, when it's love"

"I admit I don't love her, but we can, if we date" James shrugged.

Remus nodded. "Yeah, right. But have you ever seen anything more than platonic emotions in her eyes when she looks at you?"

"Or anything other than irked emotions" Sirius muttered, gaining a kick from Remus from under the table.

"Tact, Padfoot. Tact" he glared.

Sirius gave him an unapologetic look.

"I haven't ever seen anything so clearly in her eyes" James mumbled.

"The point, Prongs" Sirius clapped on his back. "Did you actually feel happy when you got to know that Singh and she are not together or you were forcing it on you?"

James turned to him sharply. "No..." he breathed and then lowered his head in deep contemplation.

"If I must" Peter said hesitantly and at the approved nods, he began. "I don't know if it's true but"- he cleared his throat – "but I think Mary has feelings for you and the way you are relaxed with her but being a little self-conscious, it's just seemed to be reciprocated"

Sirius and Remus shared impressed looks and patted Peter on the back, who in turn blushed red.

James' face was the right mixture of confusion, irritation to himself and a total mess of his head.

That is when a pleasant voice came. "James!"

They turned their heads to see a smiling face with her dusty blonde hair tied in a rough pony tail, her blue eyes shining happily and her face looking excited.

Mary came approached them, smiling broadly. "Hi, Sirius, Remus" she greeted. "Don't your hair look even better than Sirius', Peter"

Faces turned to him. Peter blushed and awkwardly brushed his a-little-overgrown hair, that he had tucked behind his ears, though a small perfect strand escaped and loomed on his forehead.

"They do look good, Peter" Remus complimented, with a side of his vision never leaving Sirius.

Sirius spluttered. "Even better than mine, Moony?"

Remus shrugged. "I do like them. They suit on him" he smirked, doing this to Sirius was sometimes so much fun.

Sirius gave a dismissing look and quirked his lips while Mary nodded. "I agree"
