"I knew it."
The man's voice right beside him, startled Jungkook. He jumped back, only then noticing the voice belonged to Sehun, who was leaning casually against the wall with a smug smile on his face.
"You didn't wait a minute to go see her, did you?" he asked. "Right after, I left your room, you went to see her, didn't you?"
Jungkook's jaw dropped, pointing back at the door where he'd just emerged from. "You mean...? No, I didn't! I mean, not that very instant. I waited a while. I mean, it's not like I couldn't wait to see her-"
Sehun's laughter shut him up. "Stop talking, my man. You're only digging a deeper hole for yourself." Sehun pushed himself away from the wall and stood before him. "Listen, the crew's gone down for dinner. I'll make sure to tell them you wanted dinner by yourself, so you're okay for now. But make sure that if you leave her room, to go back to your own room, that you check the hallway first. Don't let anyone see you tonight. Okay?"
Jungkook nodded.
Sehun tapped him on his shoulder. "Good. Now, tell me... Why are you still standing here?"
Jungkook started explaining the whole 'she invited me for dinner and wanted to call you', causing Sehun to start laughing again. He had to shut himself up by placing his hand over his mouth, because his laughter was so loud, it could've alerted others to come see what was going on.
"It's good to see, she keeps you on your toes," he then said. "I'll arrange dinner. You go back to her before anyone finds us here."
Jungkook nodded, placing his hand on Sehun's arm before the bodyguard had a chance to walk away. "Thank you, my man. I really appreciate you helping out like this."
The bodyguard shrugged. "Well, you know how I love Kdrama plots and this seems right up that alley." He snickered as Jungkook hit him against his shoulder, but then walked away.
Jungkook watched him turn around the corner, leaving him alone in the empty hallway and then sunk back in thoughts.
Why had he felt the need to explain himself about wanting to see her? After all, he did bring her here, requested her to be on their floor. So, of course Sehun would assume she was more than just someone he knew.
But what exactly was the definition of more? What was she to him?
He remembered the first time he saw her. Not when he woke up inside her body and saw her as his reflection. Not even when he met her when she was still in his body. No, the first time he saw her as her.
The look in her eyes. Her flustered cheeks.
It was right after our kiss.
Jungkook's heart jumped against his ribs as the thought hit. Something about that moment had changed him. Before that moment he had just seen her as the woman who he'd switched bodies with. He learned a little about her by being her, and he gained respect and awareness for her and her battle with a body that had some restrictions.
But that was it.
Nothing about that time being her could explain why he had felt the need to keep her close. Then what was it? What had changed?
A noise signaling the arrival of someone coming from the elevator and about to turn the corner where Jungkook was standing, pulled him from his thoughts.
Quickly but carefully, he used the key to open her door and went back inside her room.
He was about to call out to her, to state he was back, when he heard a different voice.
