As soon as the first notes of their first song started, Jungkook was ready to go on stage. All his nerves had melted away, as soon as he heard the cheers from ARMY. This was what he loved to do. Perform on stage and connect with their fans.
But there was one thing that made a part of his nerves linger. The notion that she was there, too. She was watching him as they came on stage and started their first song.
His eyes darted towards the side, hoping to get a glimpse of her. But it was too dark for him to see anyone, let alone her. Still, knowing she was there made him smile.
The kiss had sparked something in him. Even though he had promised himself not to take the first step, deep inside he was glad he did. She might've not taken that step and he had felt the need to let her know just how he felt at that moment.
Though kissing seemed out of the question from now on, until they had decided on what to do about the whole switching bodies issue. Jungkook hoped they'd find an answer, or at least a way on how to handle the issue, soon.
While singing 'Butterfly', Jungkook turned sideways, knowing she'd be there. The song reminded him of her. The frailty of her, and their connection. Not wanting to pressure her, but not wanting to let her leave either.
What was it about her that made him feel like this? She wasn't his type in any sense of the word, yet he couldn't stop thinking about her. With every song they sang, he found a connection that led him to her.
And more times than not, his attention was pulled in her direction. If only he could see her, look into her eyes and convince himself that he wasn't the only one who felt this way. That her heart was beating just as fast as his was. And that she also wanted to continue what they had started in the backstage room.
At one point during the concert, the lights were switched on and Jungkook had the possibility to see the faces of the first few lines of ARMY. He smiled at them, waving as he made his way to the side. He hadn't even chosen that side consciously, until he looked up and spotted her smiling at him.
He returned the smile, waving at her and giving her two finger hearts. The way she responded – eyes widening, looking around and then smiling as her cheeks flushed red – almost sent him into overdrive. She waved back at him, but only briefly before another track started and Jungkook went into another dance routine. If he hadn't been on stage, if there weren't several cameras aimed at him, he might've broken the rule of not leaving the stage and go to her. He might've been inclined to take her in his arms, ignore all the warning signs and just kiss her once again – and this time he wouldn't let her go.
Jimin's arm around his shoulder, pulling him into a brotherly hug, burst that daydream bubble. His voice was soft when he spoked.
"Tae said she's here, and that you clearly have feelings for her," Jimin whispered. "Though let's first get this concert done, before you act upon those feelings, okay?"
He winked as he let him go.
Jungkook knew Jimin was only partially kidding. He loved teasing the youngest member, especially when it came to the women he was attracted to. But this was the first time such a woman was actually here, and the attraction was mutual. Wouldn't anyone be tempted to do what his daydream had teased him to do?
As he turned back to look at her, his brows furrowed when he saw no one standing there. Had he just dreamt her there, or had she moved from her spot? His eyes scanned the side where she'd been standing. A few familiar faces, but none was hers.
Namjoon calling his name, made him realize this wasn't the time to wonder what had happened to her. He had to be present, here on stage. He had to be Jungkook the idol, and so he plastered a smile on his face, held up his mic and spoke to ARMY the words he had carefully thought of before going onto stage.
