Title: One Chance

Pairings: Tendou Satori x Reader

WARNINGS: yandere themes, chubby reader

You had two tries. The third would send an alert to Tendou's phone and not allow you to make any more guesses.

You had played the long game for so long. Behaving until the chain grew longer and longer and finally ceased to exist, allowing you to explore the house he'd trapped you in. The windows were impossible to break and the only exit had a number pad with an unknown code to get out.

Tendou hadn't always been this way- no, scratch that, he kind of had always been creepy to you.

The two of you had met in your final year of high school, when you had transferred to Shiratorizawa. You had a love for volleyball, but didn't play it yourself. You had heard Shiratorizawa's team was the best of the best and, after watching them play the first semester and make their way to nationals, they proved that to you.

While their ace certainly stood out, another player drew your attention and interest more. Tendou Satori... tall, red-headed, wide-eyed, and eccentric, it was impossible to miss him. You weren't sure you'd call him handsome, but he certainly had his odd charms.

You started to go to their practices alongside a couple friends. While your friends wanted to catch hot guys shirtless, you just wanted to watch volleyball. And maybe decipher the strange redhead like he was a puzzle you hadn't finished.

Unfortunately for you, Tendou was much more observant than you gave him credit for. When one of his teammates complimented how well he was playing lately, he took you by surprise when he tilted his head back, made eye contact with you, and said, "I always feel 100% when my miracle girl watches me. Your round cheeks felt like they were on fire at his words.

1994, the year he was born, if your math was right. You type it in and are met with a loud buzzing sound. One try left.

You didn't think Tendou knew you existed until that moment. From then on, however, Tendou began to acknowledge you each practice, in the hallways, and even during games, where he flashed you peace signs- somehow knowing exactly where you were sitting, despite the huge crowd.

You brushed it off as harmless flirtation at first. You weren't exactly cover girl- you were a bit chubby and you didn't do much with your hair. So why? Why did he insist on calling you his "miracle girl"?

He knew everything about you, without you sharing them with him. Your favorite food, drink, song, movie, etc. And when you demanded to know where he got that information, he'd shrug and say "Just guessed!"

Your friends teased you about his obvious crush. You laughed along, even when you were feeling more and more uneasy. His wide-eyed gaze stayed on you for much too long, "miracle girl" felt too much like a lover's nickname, and he was just so... eccentric.

Then came the day he confessed his feelings for you.

What about your birth date? Surely he wouldn't choose something so obvious, right? You entered each number with trembling fingers.

"I like you," he said breathlessly. Whether he was out of breath from winning against Aoba Johsai or it was nerves, you'd never know.

The gym was silent- everyone had already left, except for you, since Tendou had asked you to stay behind. You suddenly wished everyone was still there, even if that would turn out to be embarrassing for the two of you.

Well, you weren't the type to lead someone on or date someone you weren't interested in. You were fascinated by Tendou, intrigued even. But... like?

"I'm sorry," you winced, "I don't feel the same."

You couldn't remember what happened after that.

DING!

"Door unlocked." the robotic female voice informed you.

—----------------------------------------------------

Your heart stopped, barely able to believe your luck. The house was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by forest and electric fences. However, there was one gate, from what you could tell from the second floor. The driveway led directly through the trees to that gate.

You had several hours before Tendou returned home- you knew he had gone off to work, as he always did on the weekdays. It was how you kept track of time.

The gravel of the driveway crunched under your shoes. There was no point in running- you weren't really in shape and it'd just tire you out. Besides, you had plenty of time.

The air was cold, which didn't help the goosebumps already on your skin. You thought of going back for a jacket but, now that you had left the house, you couldn't bring yourself to even look back at your former prison.

You walked down the driveway for an uneventful three minutes when something stopped you in your tracks. The sound of crunching gravel under something much bigger than a human could be heard ahead.

Tendou was coming home early.

You shot off into the woods framing the driveway, throwing yourself behind a tree. You peeked around it just barely, praying that you were wrong. There was no way he'd get home so early.

Sure enough, the familiar red pickup truck came slowly down the driveway, the sound of gravel under its wheels sending shivers down your spine. Then, when the truck was right in front of your tree, it came to a stop.

You put a hand over your mouth and held your breath. The car door opened and someone climbed out. You could hear each footstep in the gravel and the soft squish of shoes on wet grass.

"You can come out from behind that tree," Tendou's voice was almost playful, "I know you're there."

You closed your eyes and tried to keep your breathing even. There was no way he knew where you were. He was just bluffing!

Tendou let out a loud sigh and walked towards the tree you were hiding behind. Before you could decide between staying put and running, he peeked around the tree and grabbed your wrist.

"That was a terrible idea... Don't you know what they used to call me in high school?"

You squeezed your eyes shut and tried to hold back tears. You had one chance and you had messed it all up.

"They used to call me Guess Monster, and why is that, do you think?"

Your voice came out as a croak, "So you just guessed I was escaping and hiding here?"

Tendou laughed and said, "Lucky guess, huh?"

Tears spilled down your round cheeks and you wiped at them with your free hand. A little sob escaped your lips. "I just want to go home!"

Tendou frowned and pulled you close, putting his mouth close to your neck and whispering, "I'm sorry, but I can never let you go, my paradise."

"Now," he said, scooping you into his arms as though you were weightless, "Let's get my little miracle girl back where she belongs."
