Title: Villain's Monologue
Pairings: Yandere! Kita Shinsuke x F! Reader
WARNINGS: yandere themes
Your family hadn't responded to your texts in days. You checked your phone, heart sinking at the ignored "I miss you" that you texted to your parents two days ago.
These days, it felt like you were all alone in the world.
You blinked back the stinging in your eyes. It wasn't just your parents- your best friend claimed they were always too busy to hang out, but still managed to post on social media every day.
You had reached out, asked if everything was okay. Asked if you were the problem.
No one responded.
Except him.
Your phone notification went off and you smiled at the familiar sound. You knew who it was without checking.
Kita:
Don't forget to eat today. You like tomato soup, right?
Your finger hovered over the screen, a strange sensation in your chest. Had you ever told him that? You didn't think you had.
Still, the warmth of having someone remembering you existed was much more important. To have someone care whether you'd eaten or not...
You:
I'll eat soon.
Kita:
I'll bring you some, just wait for a bit. I don't want you to be alone every night.
A part of you wanted to say "no" and be independent, but that part was pretty quiet. The truth was you didn't want to be alone. Not again.
You flopped onto your bed, ignoring the hunger growling in your stomach. Your apartment was silent- the kind of silence that left you alone with spiraling thoughts. Right now, those thoughts were worries and fears and negativity on loop.
Kita always knew the right thing to do and say. Ever since he shared his umbrella with you on a rainy day, the two of you have been close. It may have only been two months, but Kita had ingrained himself into your life easily.
He was always there, liking and commenting on your posts, reminding you to take care of yourself, and listening to everything you had to say. Maybe that was weird, but it didn't feel weird. It felt natural and safe.
Kita arrived at your door faster than you had expected. As soon as you opened the door, he lifted up a plastic shopping bag. You rummaged through the cabinets for something to cook the soup with while he made himself at home.
Then, he stood up with an "Oh no!".
"What's the matter?" you asked, surprised by his sudden display of emotion, which was rare for Kita.
"I forgot the crackers," Kita looked embarrassed to have caught your attention, "I know you really like dipping the crackers in the soup."
Again, did you really tell him that? You had no memory of doing so. Slightly put off, you said, "Well, that's okay."
"No," Kita shook his head seriously, "We have to go pick some up."
"The sun's going down," you said, "But the store is so close, it'd be a waste to drive."
Kita smiled, "Then let's go on a walk."
You left the can of soup on the counter and pulled on your shoes, following Kita out the door and down the stairs. The two of you made it to the store around ten minutes later, picking out both crackers and popcorn, since Kita suggested a movie.
It was on the way back that something went wrong.
The man wore a mask that disguised his voice, but the black trench coat hid none of his muscles. All you could really focus on, however, was the gun.
Kita threw out his arms, shielding your body. You were trembling, voice too dry to scream. You were afraid you might pee your pants.
"Just give me your money and no one gets hurt," said the mugger.
Kita tossed your wallet onto the ground in front of him. As soon as the mugger was distracted, Kita scooped you up and ran. You sobbed into his chest until he came to a stop outside your apartment.
Kita called the police after he'd gotten you inside but there was no sign of the mugger. He ended up spending the night at your place, to help you feel better.
The two of you only seemed to be closer, watching movies all night instead of sleeping, knowing that he protected you with his life.
Then, the next week, you received a phone call from Kita. You were used to texts, so you were confused, and assumed, with a quickly-beating heart, that it may be urgent.
"It's my grandmother," Kita explained, "Can you walk over and then I can drive us both to the hospital?"
Kita's house was farther than you normally walked, but you figured it'd be one less step than if you drove. You grabbed your things, slipped on your shoes, and ran down the stairs and down the street.
The day was turning to night again, but it was still bright by the time you got to Kita's house. You knocked on the door and Kita immediately opened the door, pulling you inside.
"Aren't we going to the hospital?" you asked as he locked the door behind you.
He turned around with his usual serious expression.
"No."
Kita led you over to the couch and sat you down. Your heart pounded in your chest. Had his grandmother died in the time it took you to walk over?
A smile spread across his face. Not the normal, sweet, little smile that usually made an appearance, but a twisted, evil grin.
"Week one through three was inserting myself into your life. Making you feel safe and secure in my presence. When week four rolled around, I decided to push others out of your life. I messed with your phone, sending texts to everyone you knew and then blocked their messages from coming through.
"I made sure to always be there. Always be available. Emotionally, physically, whatever. I made you feel close to me so much faster than you would for anyone else because, for me, you were the only one.
"Then came the mugging- that was Atsumu in the trench coat. Our shared trauma made you so ready to believe me no matter what and was the final push of trust. And now, you'll stay here, with me."
You stared at him, horror filling you to the brim, "I-I can't- tell me this is a joke!"
Kita checked his watch, "At any moment, your apartment will erupt in flames. Witnesses see a familiar masked figure in a trench coat, just like the police heard about last week, running from the scene. They'll find a burned body just your size, with the fingerprints burned off and missing too many teeth to identify. You see, the big bad man who mugged you decided to do more evil."
"People will look for me!"
"No," Kita said sweetly, "They won't."
