Da-eun didn't trust her eyes at first. She gazed down at her phone emptily, the feeling of anger and betrayal settling down inside her stomach.

"Is this a joke?!" she exclaimed in frustration.

Honestly, this one was on her. It was on her for expecting better. On her for hoping she wouldn't get disappointed yet again.

Worried, Chenle hurried up the stairs to his girlfriend's room. He had only just picked her up from Kun's place. Everything was fine so... what happened?

His eyes found the phone in her hands that she was glaring holes into.

"Eun, are you okay?"

She looked up at him right away. "'Okay'?" she questioned. "How could I be okay?"

Feeling slightly anxious now, Chenle stepped closer carefully. "What's going on?"

Right away, she sighed dramatically, then handed him her phone. "My period is five days early. Again." She pouted slightly as she looked at Chenle. "I got it last night and I thought I just forgot to check so I was like 'oh well my own fault' but it turns out my body just hates me."

Chenle had to smile a little. He glimpsed down at her phone which had a tracker app opened. A new entry for today and yesterday and the feeling 'sad' was ticked for both days.

He didn't know how it felt exactly but he could sympathize with her frustration. So, judging from experience, he offered,

"Do you want hot chocolate?"

Da-eun pouted. She looked like a sad kid when she nodded. "A hot water bottle too."

"Of course," Chenle said, about to turn around when Da-eun stopped him.

"And then," she continued her list of requests, "I'd be happy to know what happened this morning."

He hummed. "I planned on telling you now anyway," he told her. "Wanna wait in the living room? We could watch TV."

Da-eun nodded contently as she hurried over to Chenle. She took his hand and held it tightly knowing she'd let go of it once they reached the bottom of the staircase since Chenle went into the kitchen while she went into the living room.

Daegal jumped onto the sofa and curled up next to the girl. Automatically, Da-eun started patting the dog while she zapped through different channels until eventually settling on one.

"Snacks?" Chenle shouted from the kitchen. "I bought mini muffins the other day."

"Oh, yes!"

Da-eun grinned excitedly, hardly able to contain her happiness. Hot chocolate and muffins - it sounded great.

Chenle had to take two trips to be able to carry everything into the room yet ended up sitting down next to her not much later. She looked at him immediately, not bothering to focus on the random show playing in the back.

"Thanks."

He nodded. "Tell me if you need anything else."

"So considerate~" she mumbled and reached for her mug. The warmth on the ceramic's outside felt comforting.

Not comforting enough to make up for how uneasy she felt though.

It didn't need much to figure out that her overthinking was why her initial smile soon faded and she got a little quiet. She wasn't going to ask again. She knew he would tell her and she didn't feel like pushing him too much.
