hi

80

During Da-eun's absence, Yu-rou had worked twice as hard. Although Da-eun was gone for less than two weeks, the Yu-rou gave her best to ensure her coworker wouldn't come back to a flood of unedited material. Even though it took a toll on her, she was happy to help.

And this help was greatly appreciated by Da-eun. Her classes at university had started again just days ago and she felt equally happy and overwhelmed as she now had to get in the mindset of working again. However, being able to step back into her life after everything was relieving.

Da-eun hugged Yu-rou tightly at the end of the day. "Thank you so much."

"You're good!" Yu-rou replied happily. "If something like that would have happened to me I would be glad if someone helped me - and I'm sure you'd do that for me."

She smiled. "You are so sweet." She pushed herself away from the younger and looked at her eyes that shimmered with glee. "Let me repay you somehow."

"It's fine," she assured.

"Still," Da-eun insisted. "You worked so hard the past days - Chae-bong told me all about it."

Which made Yu-rou laugh awkwardly. "Oh, he did?" she wondered shyly. "Uhm... if you insist... buy me coffee some time."

Although she felt like that wasn't quite enough, Da-eun agreed nonetheless.
"Sure."

"Great!" The girl stepped away and put on her coat. "Let's go home for today."

Although they spent the first few minutes together, their ways parted eventually. Da-eun got on the same old bus she had been taking for months. It was full of people, loud, warm.

It was lively too. Full of chatter.

In a way, it was comforting.

Her gaze dragged over the quickly passing scenery. They got stuck on people, stores and signs. She got lost in the pace of the fast-moving imagery, lost in the voices that circled around her.

And she got a little lost in how good she felt.

She closed her eyes when the sun pushed through the dirty window, the brightness blinding her for a moment. It was a good day. Warm and sunny. The days were longer now.

Without thinking much about it, she got off the bus. It was a station too early, but she wanted to walk a bit. It wasn't long anyway, a few minutes and she would reach the next bus station which was the one closest to Chenle's place.

Strolling freely in the calming warmth of this day's bright sunshine felt nice for a change. She didn't mind staying home and spending time with her loved ones. However, after a while, she just wanted to be alone for a bit. She was safe now, so she took the liberty of getting off the bus a station early.

Alongside the road on the way home were a handful of stores. Jewellery and clothing stores neatly displayed their finest items in their shop windows.

Da-eun stopped in front of one of the stores. Her reflection greeted her faintly as she shifted her attention from the shimmer on the glass to what was behind it. She hummed, lips parted slightly as she inspected one of the watches in the shop window.

"Woah," she pushed out. It would have fit Chenle perfectly - at least for those times when he dressed up a little. It looked effortlessly elegant and pretty - it was pretty expensive too.

Da-eun took a step back. She could never even dream of buying this for him. Actually, after talking to Hae-in, she had decided to buy Chenle a piece of jewellery. However, she had yet to find something that she could afford and also considered pretty enough.
