A Murderer and The Nurse (Slow Updates)

Part 5

My eyelids getting heavy but they suddenly snapped open when heard a husky voice beside me.

"Hey"
I turned to see Karan right next to me resting his back against the wall. I had to fight the urge to turn and run. "You want one?" He asked indicating towards chewing gum in his hand.

" No thanks "I said my tone a little more unfriendly. He shrugged and put it in his mouth.

"So Tejasswi? That is your name right? " He asked and I just nodded.

" How old are you?" He asked again.

"Twenty three" I answered

"I'm twenty seven" He said.

"Why are you talking to me?" I asked abruptly.

He was a little taken aback and raised his eyebrows. "I don't know". He shrugged. "The guards are no fun to talk and everyone in here is insane". He said. "Oh. So you are not insane? " I said harshly.

"I never said that"

After one minute of silence he continued. "So why are you so afraid of me? You have no reason to be. You know". He said. I shook my head confused.

The reasons were obvious. "You murdered three girls".

"And you believe that?" Karan interrupted raising an eyebrow again.

"Yeah why else would you be in an institution for the criminally insane?" I said.

He was about to say something but I continued before he could. "And who said I'm afraid of you anyway? "  was afraid but I didn't want him to know that.

" It's obvious " He said

" How? "

"Well" he said as he slid his tongue across his lips." I have been watching u a lot since I've been here and-"

"Wait. What do you mean you have been watching me?" The thought of him watching me sent a shiver down my spine.

" I mean I've been looking at you. Just been watching you stand here". He said.

"Why?" I wondered

" Well it's kind of hard not to. I mean you are beautiful" he said. 

That stupid smirk on his face pops up. I tried not to let the comment affect me. But wasn't successful. I could feel my cheeks get hot and red. Karan seems to notice as his smirk grew wider. 

"But anyway. I have seen you talk to other patients. You love them. I can tell. You are the most friendly employee I have seen so far you are close off. You never talk to me before today. It means you are afraid". He said it casually

"So I'm antisocial. Distant and unfriendly towards you? Karan you have only been here about a week and I have barely even talked to you". I pointed out. 

"Exactly you talk to everyone but me. I knew it couldn't have been the fact that u don't like me because you barely even knew me. So it must have been that you were scared "He said.

"Yeah well now I know you and I still hate you" I spoke harshly. Karan tilted his head back laughing. "Hmm you are feisty too "he hummed." I like that" he said. I made a disgust sound. I couldn't stand him anymore. I was about to say something rude to him but he spoke first.

" Well it was nice talking to you Tejasswi. I will see u around". He winked. He pushed his body off the wall and I was left alone.
