KARAN POV
I rushed back to my seat, pressing my hands behind me, pretending I was still tied. Mrs. D'Souza shut the door behind her, placing the keys on the table, smirking as she took in my discomfort. Her eyes gleamed with cruelty. Ahh, I hate this woman the most in the world."Where were we Karan?" Mrs. D'Souza's voice was like ice-sharp and merciless.
I met her gaze, refusing to show fear. I knew she thrived on it. The room was dark, the air thick with tension, but my mind was racing. I couldn't afford to break. Not now.
"You were so confident" she continued, her tone mocking, "telling me how I couldn't touch you or your little girlfriend. But guess what? We found her, and she is paying for your arrogance right now"
My heart pounded in my chest. The cloth gag in my mouth made it hard to breathe, and the words that escaped were barely audible. "You're lying" I growled, my voice full of defiance.
D'Souza's smile widened. "No, I'm not. She's only a few rooms away" she said, almost casually. "Maybe I'll let you hear her scream next"
The thought of Tejasswi being tortured twisted a knife in my heart. But I had to keep my cool. I couldn't let D'Souza see my fear. I had to be smart.
"I'll make you suffer" she hissed, stepping closer. Her footsteps echoed in the small, grim room. There was something different in her voice. Was it uncertainty? I caught it, a tiny crack in her confidence. She was bluffing. She didn't have Teju. Not yet. But that didn't mean she wasn't in danger. I have to find her. Without warning, I moved. With a burst of strength, I leaped out of the chair. The expressions of D'Souza were priceless but I have no time to stop and enjoy.
My muscles tensed, my body moving faster than D'Souza could react. Before she could call for help, my fist collided with her jaw. She staggered back, her expression turning from surprise to fury.
I didn't stop. I struck again, harder this time. D'Souza crumpled to the ground, unconscious. There was no time to feel guilty. She wasn't a person to me anymore, she was an evil witch and the obstacle standing between me and Tejasswi.I sprinted to the door, flinging it open, stepping into the dark hallway. The power had been cut, thanks to Sister Geeta. I don't know what she did to cut the power for so long but she was doing great job. The entire hospital was shrouded in darkness, with only faint emergency lights guiding my path.
The halls twisted and turned, but I knew where I was going. The gunshot I had heard earlier came from just a few corridors away. I could feel it in my bones that Tejasswi was near. My legs burned as I pushed myself harder, faster. I had to reach her before D'Souza's guards did.
Finally, I reached the spot where I had last seen her. My stomach dropped. The door to the room where I had told her to hide was wide open. And she was gone.
Vishal was there instead, slumped on the floor. Blood poured from his knee, his face twisted in pain.
"Vishal" my voice was barely a whisper but it was sharp, full of urgency. "Where is Tejasswi?"
Vishal sneered through his agony. "That bitch shot me in the knee" He screamed out of pain and anger.
For a brief second, pride flared in my chest. Teju had fought back. She wasn't going to let anyone take her without a fight. But pride wasn't enough. I needed answers.
"Where did she go?" my voice was a low growl, each second precious.
Vishal's face twisted in rage. "How should I know? She just ran off" he snarled, the pain making him furious.
I didn't have time for games. I pressed my foot against Vishal's wounded knee, applying pressure until the man howled in pain. "Which way did she go?" I demanded, my voice icy and controlled.
Vishal cursed through gritted teeth, his face pale from the pain. "That way" he choked out, pointing weakly down a dark hallway to the left.
I looked down the path. It was long, shadowed, and ominous. But I hesitated. Could Vishal be telling the truth? Why would he help? I didn't trust him, not for a second.
No, this was a trap.
I made my choice. I turned away from Vishal's direction and sprinted down the opposite hallway but not before kicking his knee again, how dare he curse my girl. Every step felt like I was racing against time itself. The darkness seemed to swallow me whole, the cold air biting at my skin, but I couldn't stop. Not now.
"Please be safe Laddoo" I whispered to myself, the thought of Laddoo filling my mind. My heart raced, not from the sprint, but from fear. I couldn't lose her. Not after everything we had been through.
The hallway stretched on, every second feeling like an eternity. My breath was ragged, my lungs burning, but I pushed on, refusing to let fatigue slow me down.
Teju had to be safe. If she wasn't, I knew one thing for certain, I wouldn't survive the pain of losing her.
