Conner knew that he and M'gann wasn't going to last forever. It sounded sad but it was the truth. M'gann fell under his first love, only a few are lucky enough to spend the rest of their lives with their first love.

For others, they either never forget their first love or they learn from it and move on to their second love that's more memorable.

Conner loved M'gann, he was sure he did. They were good for each other at first. She helped him to understand and learn all the emotions floating within him. She helped him to grow and feel how to be human while accepting his super half.

They were both learning who they were, who they wanted to be.

Their relationship helped them to grow, to understand and to feel alive. To feel normal and learn to understand themselves in a way they weren't able to do before.

But first love can be messy, awkward and so unsteady due to it being something so new.

M'gann broke his trust, he tried to enter his mind without permission and stepped over a line. He never wanted to be controlled ever again since Cadmus. The team knew his fear, his anger towards mind control .. and monkeys. She knew about it.

He was meant to be able to both love her and trust her, not love her while always looking over his shoulder for her to betray him.

They never got back together after their break up. He could trust her as a teammate but not as someone who'd hold his heart.

They both held happy memories from their first love, learnt from it and gained new experience's through their relationship. By the end of the messy broke up and the final acceptable that they'd never return to how they were before, to never love each other the same. They stood as older, grown and mature adults.

Conner wasn't even jealous when M'gann started to date Lagoon boy. He was only furious over having super hearing and having to hear the stupid and gross pet names they used. Everyone else found the pet names as god awful and were able to simply return home after a mission. He was trapped in the mountain, listening to it none stop.

But maybe he should have been thankful over his super hearing. He never really learnt how to control his powers completely until Clark finally accepted him and took him under his wing. And of course super hearing doesn't just stop. You learn to tune everything out and only focus on those sounds close by.

Good enough he never followed since he had learnt to focus his hearing on his teammates who lived outside the cave during his early days on the team. Something Robin had unconsciously gave him the idea for. The young Gotham Vigilante had purposely lit slip that Batman makes him read over every hero, villain and any other name file within the batcomputer. Leaving Robin always looking over his teammates and comrades lives without their full consent.

Robin always felt a little guilty and never confessed to knowing details before anyone owns up to tell him about them. Always acting like it's the first time he's hearing about it when they do tell him and feeling much better once they tell him stuff themselves. But Robin also found comfort in knowing that his teammates, comrades and friends were safe. Feeling more comfortable knowing they were recovering from an injury so he can try and put less pressure on them as they do so or he knows when to pick up the slack so they can rest better.
