Side Note: This isn't any real good and don't hold much RoyDick till the end. It's something my half awake brain write up and well, I'm going to bravely or stupidly upload it anyways.
Everyone had known Richard Grayson's story in Gotham, it was hard not too when he'd been the cities entertainment three times on the big screen.
His parents had fallen to their deaths, murdered and the newly made orphan thrown into the detention centre instead of an orphanage or a good foster home.
The bird with broken wings had been picked up from the dark and ruthless dark hole he'd been dragged down by Two Face himself.
Taken in as an heir, not a son.
The first time Richard had became famous to Gotham was by his parents death.
No one looked twice at the news titles when Tony Zucco had been cold blooded murdered once Richard had fallen into Two Faces hands, the eight year old boy known to not be a killer since Harvey wanted to protect the boy from gaining stained hands.
The second time Richard had became famous to Gotham was when Batman had turned his back on him and left Richard to Two Face's ungodly beatings that were only stopped when the final coin toss had anwsered to allow Richard to live instead of to die. His broken body was laid before a camera, the whole beating shown live to Gotham by Two Face himself, accusing his heir to be a snitch since The Dark Knight had never dragged the seventeen year old to prison during all his years in Two Face's care.
The city knew the boy wasn't a snitch, that it was clear Batman had turned a blind eye for the boy who could have had a better future if given the chance. The henchmen to Two Face had known the boy had never once betrayed the man who had taken him in.
But Two Man was blinded by rage, had the doubting thought in his mind and chose to not listen to reason. To punish his heir instead and dishonour him for all to see.
Gotham knew Batman wasn't a hero that night, that the Bat had chosen to not rescues the boy and allowed him to almost die by the villain's hands instead. Batman's reasoning when asked by Commissioner Gordon, "If I had saved him, Two Face would have taken that as prove that I was linked to the boy".
Batman had lost more respect by that answer than all his years as Gotham's vigilante.
The third time Richard had became famous to Gotham was when he turned up as "Coin" one random night. Murders of truly awful criminals popping up all over the city as well as shady rich people who were stained in the underground or were known to have some disgusting habits that would be overlooked by bribing the police force and anyone involved.
The name was given to him by the city herself, as the only thing left at each crime scene was a coin showing either heads or tails. If it landed on heads, they were killed by a clean bullet to the head, a quick and mostly painless death.
If it landed on tails, the person was beaten to death until their skull was smashed in and brains covered the ground.
It was a simply name but a name that spoke enough warnings to those that have excepted the law plenty of times already.
