Dick's life has changed often enough in his life that he's long since learnt to never truly settle down in one place.

Something always comes along and calls him back to Gotham, to another part of the planet or he loses his current home.

It's why he wasn't as upset as he should have been when his adopted father suddenly died on them and left his newest and youngest son in his care.

Dick might not have gotten along well with Talia, knowing she didn't get along well with him in return but he wasn't going to judge a boy on his parents or past.

The circus had been filled with a large family with so many different people with many different pasts that none of them dared to judge over. The circus was safe and welcoming to all who needed a home and would be willing to join the family, to love and protect the large family.

Dick knew he wasn't with the circus anymore and he knew he had failed to be welcoming to Jason. But he wasn't going to forget his original upbringing again. He'll do right by Damian and give the boy the home, the family and the better future he deserved.

Nothing too big or too small was this boy going to miss out on a decent childhood. To be seen, heard and wanted. To have cherished memories more often than old ones he's buried deep down to protect overtime.

Hence Halloween became a big deal once he learnt that the boy has never experience one between.

He's asked for Alfred's help, the adopted grandfather truly being an angel sent from the heavens for all of the Wayne family. The man willing to help without anymore said on the topic.

No other bat member would be home in Gotham for Halloween, leaving him to keep the plans rather simple and enough for just him and his kinda growing to be not adopted son. Alfred would be gaining an early night on Halloween as he's always promised to have.

Babs would be on coms as always but wasn't really a fan of Halloween. She'd give out candy to any child who knocked on the door when she lived with her father but living in apartment left her without any children knocking on Halloween night.

It was a really simple but fun plan.

Costumes that wouldn't hinder them on patrol.

A pouch added to their utility belts filled with small bat shaped candy in Robin colours wrappings.

False Batman sightings being uploaded to keep Gotham assuming the bat was looming among the shadows, ready to ponce on any criminal who turns their back to the dark knight.

He just prayed that the boy would like it.

"Happy Halloween!" Dick greeted with his most bright and charming smile as the ten year old finally entered the cave, ready to grab his costume for patrol.

"Grayson.." Damian merely said with clear displeasure as he looked to the two outfits hanging up, awaiting to be put on.

"It's Halloween. I promised the best Halloween experience you can get. Including a costume for the night" Dick hurried to explain as he grabbed the boy's costume, holding it out to him with a cheerful smile.

A cheerful smile that soon turned nervous and anxious the longer the child stood there just staring at the mini Nightwing costume being held out to him. The boy staring at it as if could tell him the answers of the universe itself. Before finally sighing and glancing to the second costume still hanging up and suddenly standing a bit taller.

The Nightwing costume was soon snatched away from the older man and the boy hurried away to the changing rooms to get changed and ready for patrol. Leaving Dick to give a small victory fist bump in the air before grabbing up the Robin outfit, styled to be an extract copy of the current Robin's suit.

The pouches of candy were soon clipped on and the two were driving out in the Batmobile towards the heart of Gotham. Gaining a "Spooky Greetings, Nightwing and Robin" from Oracle as she logs into the coms for the night.

Once parked up the two vigilantes took to the rooftops and looked out to the city they'd be protecting until their last breath if needed.

Fighting criminals and saving civilians.

Their pouch of candy growing lighter and lighter after every experience.

Criminals, adults and children all left with a tiny battreat for the spooky night after crossing their paths.

Dick soon taking his Nightwing on a new patrol route for their rounds. Bumping into a few harmless rogues who all passed out villain shaped vegan friendly lollypops or sweeties.  All safe to eat due to Agent A having had a friend make them for the young Nightwing of the night.

Commissioner Gordon passing out Gotham Vigilante shaped vegan friendly sweets once they landed on the police rooftop. A few cops waving from the roof's door, holding up a few bat shaped candy already dropped off to the station earlier that evening. Agent A being a big help in doing so.

Kate having moved back to Gotham, still retired from Batwomen, handed out some more Gotham Vigilante vegan friendly lollypops, ones that Gordon didn't have shaped as. She passed on her thanks to Agent A for the Batwomen shaped chocolate given to her earlier.

Next was a quick visit to Oracle who answered their knock at her window, passing on the last of the Gotham vigilante vegan friendly shaped sweets to the young Nightwing of the night.

The young Nightwing of the night having to have started using one of his bat bags to carry all the treats he'd been given throughout the night and clipping the straps to the back of his utility belt.

The old Robin of the night passing on Oracle shaped chocolates in return for her own treat for the night before he was rushing off to save the day with his partner.

It wasn't the most normal Halloween night for a child but it was Halloween.

Sweets, costumes and the spooky night of the evening.

Damian got to experience his first Halloween from the rooftops, returning home with a bag of treats that he'd be able to enjoy and a small hidden smile on his lips.

Dick had kept his promise, it was the best Halloween he'd ever experience.

A/N: When you're meant to be writing up future Christmas oneshots but instead this came to mind and you ended up writing this oneshot instead. Having already gotten Seven Halloween Specials to upload on the 31st and decided to just upload this as an October Oneshot instead.

Side Note: I'll refuse to give hot chocolate the next time they're upset to anyone who says that Dick didn't try to give Damian a Halloween when he was under his care. Even if they were both stuck on Patrol, Dick would have tired something. Wanting the boy to experience a good Halloween at least once even with the mess of Gotham trying to spoil it.
