Side Note: I'm going to make Bruce a real arsehole in this oneshot. I just want to point out that he's not homophobic but he's really against Meta's. And I'm gonna make the batfam hurt Dick emotionally a little too. Sorry.
Age Ten:
"I'll marry him one day" Richard announced out of the blue, having returned from finally meeting Kidflash while their mentors teamed up for a case.
Bruce just raised an eyebrow towards his partner and shaking his head. He had hoped that Richard was grown out of the age where children wanted to marry their siblings or parents. It was cute when they were five but at ten, Bruce wasn't ready to deal with it.
"I doubt that very much" Bruce dryly replied as he moved towards the batcomputer, ready to reread over his report over the case.
"But I will. I'll marry him" Richard said determined.
Who wouldn't want to marry Kidflash.
He was going to become his best friend, he just knew it.
And his best friend deserved to marry someone who'd cherish, respect and be the best damn husband possible. Richard was going to love his best friend like he'd parents loved each other.
He knew it sounded silly but Kidflash was only a couple years older and they both gained a chance to talk in private after their mentors left them behind to finish the case up alone. Kidflash was able to talk about all his worries that he knew the adults would simply see as silly.
Just like worrying over marriage in the future. Kidflash wanted to marry his future partner without having to lie straight to their face. He could understand hiding his secret identify during the dating stage but for marriage, he'd want to be honest from the start. Give them an out if they weren't prepared for that type of life. He didn't want a marriage started with mistrust and a lie.
Richard might be young but he understood. He also knew the adults were laugh or think it was stupid to worry over something so silly. But Richard knew it was important to Kidflash and as his new best friend, he'd have his back.
If no one was willing to marry Kidflash when they get old then he'll do it. He'd be honoured to marry his best friend and make sure he doesn't end up alone and unwanted by anyone else. Richard was going to learn to be a great husband in case he needed to keep his own promise and marry his best friend.
Age Thirteen:
"I'll marry him one day" Robin whispered under his breath without any self control.
Superboy risking a startled glance towards him and silently freaking out over how to reply. He was still learning human culture and meanings. Should he mention the fact that he heard it or just pretended he didn't hear a single thing and it never happened.
Conner mentioned it, at least in the moment.
Robin didn't even mean for it to slip out.
