Side Note: Set in the Young Justice world. YJ team is sent to protect the Wayne's family.

Dick's been to so many gala's by now that he's forgotten the total number. At first he'd only be forced to stay an hour or two, sent home early to go to bed due to his young age. But than he was forced to survive the events longer and more by himself. 

First he was hated, seen as a circus freak, poor and a future gold digger. 

Than he was the beloved and charming Richie Grayson-Wayne that everyone wanted a taste off. 

Even Brucie Wayne's shine would dull against Richie's natural and blinding glow. 

And that would have been fine, Bruce deserved a break from his act as the years passed and Richard was a performer from birth, knew how to read a crowd and act to please them by using their own moods against them. 

But it was the age that made the whole good nature of stepping into the spotlight that spoiled the fun. Richie was still half hated and half loved, some over looking his past since he had a pretty face and was being raised to stand a Wayne. The other half looked down on him, spoke ill behind his back and used fakes smiles as they tried to slyly grow closer to him in hopes to fool him out of riches as "gifts" or to gain a foot into the Wayne world of connections. 

Richie was just ten when he was thrown in the spotlight for a whole different reason of being a poor orphan taken in by the riches man in Gotham. Brucie had tried acting up, tried being a little more daring and force attention back onto him but Gotham's rich had already placed their claws into the younger boy. 

Neither Bruce or Richard was happy about this. He was just a boy and yet, he was already being ponced on and some families tried arranging a marriage with their child to Richard when Bruce was distracted with speaking with other guests. 

Thankfully Richard was much smarter than everyone assumed Richie was and knew how to escape such arranges and step away from anyone who made him uncomfortable. 

And now, he was mostly a pro to escaping unwanted and unpleasant people during an expensive event as the charity gala he was currently stuck in. The Wayne's lives were threatened by an unknown suspect but Bruice Wayne never ran and hid from threats before and so, the two were at the event they were warned not to go too.  

The Justice League was kept away. Seems Batman or Superman had saved Richie's life too many times from kidnappers in the past. People were starting to wonder if the Wayne family gained extra protection from earth's hero while founding them. It was creating gossip the vigilante's of Gotham didn't need. 

So, here the Young Justice team was. Their mission was to protect both Bruce Wayne and his son, Richard Grayson. All of them were without masks, dressed in clothing that'd cost more than any rent they're parents would ever pay and fitting in at the gala. 

And while they were here to protect the pair. They couldn't save them from fellow guests who were rude, creepy and perverted who didn't take the hint of them not being interested. Brucie had an easier job of escaping such hassle when he brings a date, just like tonight. But Richie was "too young" to bring dates to gala since no teenage crush or love normally lasted long. Any date's Richie brings would be plastid all over the news's the next morning and everyone would start talking over certain conversation's that a thirteen year old didn't need to be exposed or even felt any real interest in just yet.
