Talon decided to leave the court of owls when he was seventeen. He never liked killing and while he felt pain, he always felt sad when he followed the Owlman's orders to take a life or to hurt someone.

More so those that were innocent. Those that were seen as threats or snooped a little closer without knowing it. Or worse, those that held no real reason in needing to be killed but the court ordered it anymore as a favour for other's.

Talon stayed loyal for nine years of his life, he wasn't going to allow his loyalty to last a full decade. He may be dead and a bit of a freak now he stands as Talon but he was going to be free.

Talon knew he once stood as Richard Grayson, he grandfather and all the court members called him as Gray son.

Richard had died for Gray son to be born.

Talon knew he would never be Richard, the innocent and beautiful boy who loved and cherished all, who always saw the good in people, deserved to lay in peace.

So, he was in need of a new name that wasn't linked to the courts anymore.

Talon became Dick, he read over it being an old nickname for his birth name and he wanted to keep some of the old Richard alive in his new life. He didn't want Richard to be seen as a monster or a murderer but Dick hoped Richard kindness, compassion and love would help him become a better person.

Dick wanted to cherish life, not take it.

Dick wanted to see the good in people, to give a second chance in hopes of finding prof that he could be given a second chance in his dead but still living life.

Dick thought of himself as a good parent and brother.

He's read all about parenting and watched from a distance as adults cared for children correctly compared to what the court did to him.

He learnt about adopting and decided that to be a better person, he needed to learn to see the world as both pure and scary. To see the world from a child's view and help a child grow in such a big world safely.

It was much easier than he had expected.

He found a child, liked the child, took the child and kept the child.

Adopting was much easier than he's seen it to be.

Now, all he had to do to be a good parent was kept the child fed, warm, clothed, clean, happy and take him to school.

It was much harder than he's seen other people do but he did his best. He was pretty sure his son wasn't frighten of him anymore but felt safe with him instead.

Jason is a good son, he did his best to raise him well while standing as a new and single parent.

Jason taught him so much on how to survive the world as a "normal" person and in return Dick protected his son and gave him both a home and family.

Of course, Dick had read enough AITAH blogs that most first child ends up hating their parents and raised wrongly or unfairly somehow. They were the practice run for most children and Dick understood that he'd fail as a parent somewhere along the line. It seemed all eldest child had problems growing up or disliked something their parents did when raising them.

Dick wasn't going to be perfect and how to learn to accept the fact that Jason was going to be a disappointment or one day leave him bitterly and never come back.

But Jason was a good boy, so he'd most likely grow up spoiled and unable to live with Dick causing all the other siblings to despise him for being the golden child in the family.

Either way, Dick knew that Jason was doomed from the moment he decided he'd be his son after finding him cold, weak and starving.

Cass was his one and only daughter.

He saved Cass.

Met her as Talon when she was much younger.

Told Jason about her and due to them living in a better home, Jason mentioned about saving her and giving her a home too.

So, Dick found her and adopted her.

She was merely sleeping, on the hard and cold floor. Still being trained to be a weapon and not given any positive affection or unconditional love.

She clearly needed a new home.

So, he adopted her, he claimed her and took her home as he did with Jason.

He really didn't understand why other's bothered with silly piles of paperwork before taking a child home. Why would he need paper to gain a child, he didn't understand the real world sometimes.

Once Cass had stabbed him a couple of times and were pinned down safely, listening to Dick. She agreed to join their family, willingly, and gained a home.

And with Cass, he didn't kill her, starve her or abuse her. Someone else did before he came along but he cherished her like she deserved. Leaving him to be a better parent than the place at and people she was raised by before.

Dick knew that many daughters grow up to be spoiled or unloved and Dick wasn't going to have two failed children on his hands.

He was a good parent, or so he liked to assume he was. No one was dead, beaten or trained to kill .. so he saw it as a better job than the courts did.

Tim was both harder and much easier to adopt. His parents weren't around often enough and the boy stalked Batman around Gotham with his camera. The boy clearly needed a new home and a family who'd cherish him.

So, Dick tried adopting the boy.

Apparently the boy didn't understand adoption because he accused Dick as kidnapping him. Dick thought it was stupid, kidnapping is when he has to capture a target and delivery them. He was adopting this child.

It took a couple of months but Tim's curious and detective side got the better of him and he gave Dick a chance. Met the family and noticed the changes between his home and theirs.

Tim was smart but shy, he had a smart mouth but he also knew how to play rich people in public. He was a big help with costs since Dick didn't really do well in understanding money and Jason was getting overwhelmed with doing all the cooking and bills while trying to work as Red Hood as well.

Dick tried to help but he wasn't very good at anything beside cleaning and giving love and positive affection to his family. He was also good at killing people but that wasn't a skill helpful in the household life.

Last to join the family were his baby.

Little Damian.

Dick admitted that he did kidnap this one. He gave himself a mission for Talon. Rescue the baby and keep him.

Dick might have stopped being linked to the court of owls but he kept an ear to the ground. Listened to rumours and knew that any child born into the Al Ghul family would follow a similar fate as a Talon .. only difference is they'd be allowed to think openly.

Jason only freaked out a tiny bit when he returned with a six month old Damian. Cass merely shrugged and Tim was freaking out over another kidnapping charge or something. Dick didn't understand why Tim kept mentioning Kidnapping, he was adopting. He's seen other adults do the same thing.

Dick raised his babies as well as he could and he adored them.

He protected them from all harm possible and supported them with every decision made.

He was pretty good at this adopting thing he thought.
