Richard finally came to a stop as he crossed over the bridge entering into Gotham's actual town and turned back to face the woods. His eyes glancing around before he spotted the reason for his stopping. 

"Is it safe for you to be wondering around up here alone?" Richard asked with a smile, placing his hands on his hips as he stared towards the boy trying to hide along the bridge's brick. 

"H-How did you-" Damian started to yell out as he popped out of his hiding spot before freezing up and looking like a kicked puppy for outing himself. 

"I'm secretly a wizard" Richard grinned back, sending a playful wink towards the boy.

"I should burn you on the spot and save my father from your love spells" Damian announced as he made his way towards the older man, not even trying to pretend he wasn't following the man and knew there was no point trying to hide anymore now he was found. 

"I'll try my best to not hurt him. I really will. I wish I could promise but I've seen so much hurt and suffering in the world that I know I won't always be able to control any fate entwined with my own" Richard softly spoke, giving his word on something he could try to keep and sending an apologetic to the boy for not being able to promise what he was after. 

"I am merely here to make sure you don't try to run off and escape marriage with my father. That would be most unacceptable" Damian huffed back as he snapped his head in a different direction, pretending he did not care for the other man's words. 

"Understandable. It'd be nice for Haly to meet someone new and a member of the family I'm hoping to join" Richard smiled back, placing a hand on the boy's back and helping to lead them further into town. 

They walked along the town with Richard mostly talking. Pointing out certain stores or homes for people he knows. Telling fun facts or old gossip to the boy. Talking about Haly and Claydon, pointing out that he was certain Damian would be great friends with Claydon. 

Both coming to a stop at the butcher shop. Richard taking a couple minutes to calm himself and try to neaten himself up a little. Finally leading Damian into the store and greeting Claydon as if he hasn't been missing for a full twenty-four hours. 

Claydon racing over and squeezing him to death in a hug. Words spilling out of the older man as he tried to gain Richard's own story over where he's been. Richard promising to tell him all about it but needing to speak with Haly first. 

Claydon nodded before letting them both past. Deciding to ask over the child later as well. Richard happily introduced Damian to the man he saw as his grandfather. Haly being friendly as ever and easily greeting back, seeming joyful to have Richard return safely and ready to gain a new member of the family if Damian was staying. 

Once the greetings were done and Damian didn't seem ready to stab anyone. Richard stood on the edge of Haly's bed, holding one of the elderly man's head and finally speaking with him formally. Telling him over his plans to stop the wedding and how he found someone that actually made him happy.

Someone he wanted a future with. 

Haly thought over the news for a good three minutes before pressing a kiss to Richard's forehead. Only ever wanting him to be happy and passing on his blessing in case he couldn't be there for the wedding day instead.
