It had all happened so fast that Dick didn't truly understand what was happening until someone came to check on him. Then everything came crashing down at once and he felt so damn numb, so empty and so cold.

He didn't break down sobbing or turning into a desperate mess to get her back. He couldn't feel a damn thing. Not heartbreak, not lost, not anger and not fury. He just felt .. nothing.

He knew his daughter might gain more powers like her mother has. But she also might not gain anymore then the flames she did get. She was half human after all. And he knew powers could awaken at any moment and most meta's keep hidden, stay unknown for being one. He knew they were loved, hated and how much they were worth to the right seller in the underground.

Just knew it happened to other people, he's dealt with kidnapping or run away cases that's turned dark and have a terrible ending. He's a cop. He faces such bad news so often that he choses to break the news instead of some rookie cop in hopes to safe them from the painful show of watching the victims love ones or friends break down and turn cold.

He's been a victim for other matters that no one should lived through. He was happy to be the victim as long as it meant his daughter would never become one for anything that the world might give out to shatter a person's bright and hopeful soul.

But his daughter was a victim now.

His three year old was kidnapped right before his very eyes and he had failed to protect her, failed to turn into some one man army and rescues her straight away. He failed her, as a father, as a cop and as a person who she was meant to rely on.

The gang came out of nowhere. He was looking into nursery's with Mar'i. It was another but single day off. He hasn't heard from Hood for three months, not since that Wednesday before his long weekend.

In truth, he wanted to talk over finding a good and friendly nursery with his boyfriend. To search togehter and play the happy family. But now Dick felt like he was silently dumped, he knew Red Hood was in Gotham. He's seen him in the distance. He just never answers his calls, texts or grapple away whenever Dick heads towards the roof he finds him standing on.

Dick can take the hint, he's been dumped and he's somehow has to tell his daughter that. He planned to tell her much sooner but he didn't want her to be so upset while looking at the nursery's together. Knowing one of them with be her very own next year.

He'll tell her the bad news once they've found one that's perfect for her and she's able to get in. She shouldn't be crying or pouting during such a big important step in her life. And schools might refuse if she seems overly depressed or a bit of an emotionally mess.

Dick knew it was selfish to keep it from her for this long. But he was also struggling to let Hood go. He was heart broken inside but smiled on the outside. Needing to be strong for his daughter's shake. He didn't want to the break up out loud because then it'd be real and not some nightmare he dreamt about somehow.

But once a nursery accepts her, he'll tell her and they'll cry and deal with the lost together. Dick will show it's okay to show your emotions and cry when you feel sad. He won't teach his daughter to be silent and hide how she feels.
