I barely slept, and was up before the sun had properly risen. I got up and went to the bathroom, and did my morning routine. I threw some leggings and a cami on and headed to my kitchen. Walking out the room I heard someone throwing up in the bathroom in the hall. I headed towards it, "Hey, you ok in there?" I heard ruffling sounds, the sink and then the door opening. It was Paola. "Are you ok Paola?" She was crying, before she could speak again she turned and ran back to the toilet, throwing up again. "Hey do you want to go get checked?" I was starting to get worried. She shook her head no and tried to get back up. In the process she almost fell. "No Paola, we are going to get you checked. You don't look too well." She didn't argue, so I helped her get up. Sat her on a bean bag, while I ran and got some shoes and a sweater. I went back to help her up and saw that Jacob was now up sitting on the air mattress. "I'm taking Paola to the ER, she's been throwing up and she almost fell getting up." His face had changed to one of worry. "Do you guys want me to come?" I shrugged and helped Paola up. I started making my way to the car and helped her in. My phone pinged with a text. "I'm coming, just give me a sec." So I waited. A couple minutes later I see him running out the house and to the car. We all headed to the ER and thankfully it wasn't packed.
We waited about twenty minutes before she was placed in a room. We were allowed in with her. They asked her typical questions, but the one that stood out was, "Is there any chance you can be pregnant Miss Gonzales?" It was complete silence in the room for what felt like forever. Then she spoke, "I'm not sure, to be honest with you." I looked right at her face, because I didn't even know she had a boyfriend, or had been sleeping with anyone. I mean I knew she wasn't a virgin, but not that she's been with someone recently. I mean how would I, when we haven't been speaking the way we used to for some time . I was brought out of my thoughts when the doctor had spoken again. "Well, ok then. I'll get the nurses to give you a pregnancy test because these symptoms can be all connected to that. If that isn't the case then we can test you for other things." She lightly nodded and the doctor walked out of the room. A few minutes later the nurse came and did what she had to do to test her. Ten minutes later the doctor came in. "Congratulations Miss Gonzales, you are pregnant." And the room went silent. And a tear went down her face.
