Jasleena

I took Luka's advice and called Paola the following day. It rang for a while but she did finally answer. "Hey Leena!" I was relieved she actually answered. "Hey, you're alive and well I hear. But I haven't seen it for myself." I heard her sigh. "I'm sorry Leena, just a lot going on." It was my turn to sigh. "Too much that you can't talk to me about it? Or come visit?" It was quiet for a bit. "No one really says much when I ask about you. So what is going on Paola?" Still silence on the other end. So I decided to stay silent as well. A minute or so went by and she still didn't speak. And it annoyed me, because instead of at least saying she wasn't ready to speak about it yet, she stood silent. So why even answer the call? "You know what, forget it Paola. I'm not really sure what I did. But it is what it is. Sorry I even called." I was upset and maybe I had no right. But my best friend, my daughter's Godmother, was acting very weird and I did not like that. I hung up because again there was nothing. I texted her "Sorry I even bothered." Again I might had been wrong. But at that very moment I was too upset to even realize it.

We started introducing baby foods and snacks to Lila. She was growing way too fast for my liking. I decided we would have a mini indoor picnic since it was February and it's always a bit colder than any other month. Luka is at the office so lunch was just LIla and I. After lunch, Lila went down for a nap. I took that time to clean up and do some laundry. The rest of the afternoon went by in a blink of an eye and I started dinner. Luka arrived once dinner was done. He went straight for a shower before joining us for dinner. During dinner I told Luka about my phone call with Paola. "Lily, my love. I understand you're frustrated with her. But give her some time. I get it makes you worried, but when you needed the space, she respected that." I rolled my eyes. "Luka, it wasn't like she said that. If she did I wouldn't be so upset. Because I'd understand. But to not say a thing, was like if she wanted to but didn't want to at the same time. Like why wouldn't she want to speak to me about whatever it is?" He nodded, "I get that love but maybe just give her that space. She'll come around." I shrugged because I was still upset. We finished dinner. As I cleaned up the table and then kitchen, Luka bathed Lila and gave her a bedtime bottle. When I was done I went into Lila's room and kissed her good night. Luka walked up behind me and we just stood there staring at our beautiful baby girl.
