Jasleena
Even after Luka had gone into Lila's room to check on me and tell me he loved me, I couldn't find a way to speak. I knew they loved me... I knew they all understood... I knew their intentions were never to harm me. I knew how happy Paola really was. And her happiness meant a lot to me as well. But I couldn't control my feelings. I couldn't control my thoughts. I couldn't control the tears. It was just a lot so soon. I hoped that Paola wouldn't leave, because I knew I'd eventually be decent enough to say a few things. She was my best friend. She deserved a better reaction from me. And I just needed some time alone. I sat there literally doing nothing at all. I stared into random places, where my mind just wondered on its own. Wondering what my life would become after every crazy thing I had gone through. Hoping I would one day be in a much better place than I was.
Lila had been napping for about an hour. I was still sitting on the rocking chair. I heard a small knock on the door. I got up to go check who it was, so they wouldn't knock again and wake Lila. Paola. "Hey." I gave her a small smile, "Hey, I'm so sorry." I said as I walked out and closed the door, so we wouldn't wake Lila. She shook her head, no. "Leena, there is nothing to be sorry about. You have gone through so much in the last year as have I. I'm glad you are comfortable enough to even open up on how you feel about it. I didn't expect you to jump up and down Leena. I knew it'd hurt a bit, but I needed my best friend to know. I wanted you to know before the news left my family's house. I am only twelve weeks, so only my mom and Aaron know. We haven't really told dad yet." We both started laughing, because we knew Tio was definitely going to flip. "I love you Lola." She started laughing really hard and I joined her. "You have not called me that since we were kids." We laughed some more. I needed that. "See, I want our kids to have this. A best friend since birth. I love you so much Leena." I pulled her in for a hug. "You'll do great Paola. I know you will and I'm truly happy for you. Even if it didn't seem like it before." She nudged my shoulder. "If you continue to apologize over something you had zero control over I'm going to knock you silly." We both started cracking up.
