I was so scared to tell them. I wouldn't know their reaction. Would Luka even want this so soon? My mind was filling up with fear and doubts. A tear ran down my face as I spoke up to my mom and Luke. "I'm pregnant." I heard my mother gasp. I felt Lukas hand tighten a bit but relax just a few seconds later. "I'm going to be a grandma?" It was mom who spoke up first. She was crying as she asked. I only nodded as I was holding back tears myself. I felt Luka's stare. He didn't let go of my hand either. But he didn't speak.
The doctor spoke up. "So being that she's pregnant the stress of the situation that happened had her blood pressure drop even more, which caused her to faint. She's also very dehydrated, which is why she has an IV in. She will have to stay the night for observations. She will be moved to the fifth floor. Only one person can stay with her once she's in the room. Tomorrow visiting hours start at 8 am. She should be discharged tomorrow if all goes well." We all nodded. "Thank you doctor." I finally heard Luka speak up. The doctor leaves the room. "Ma, don't tell anyone yet, ok? With everything that happened and how Paola is doing. I want to be the one to talk to Paola before everyone else knows." My mom nodded in understanding. "Luka, you stay with her ok?" He nodded but didn't speak. My mom gave me a hug, a kiss on the cheek, and left the room. Leaving just Luka and I.
"I love you Lily." My eyes teared up. "I love you too Luka." I wasn't sure what he was feeling nor what ran through his mind. But that 'I love you' melted my heart and eased my mind. He was still holding my hand. Before neither one of us could speak. The nurse walked in with a wheelchair. "We're moving you to your room for the night." I nodded. Luka grabbed the bag with my belongings and we headed to the elevators. Up to the fifth floor, the pregnancy floor. I still can't believe I'm pregnant. Me, a mom to be. Like what? Luka was quiet. Just following us. We finally reached a room. "It's late in the night so you won't get an ultrasound until early morning. We won't hook up any machines because with what you told us, it's too soon to detect a heartbeat." We nodded and she left. Leaving the room with just Luka and I again.
