Chapter 17.

Leena where the hell had you gone? I spent over thirty minutes driving around the hospital area and areas around your apartment and had no luck. I took my chances again around the hospital and ended up lost. I turned the gps on and ended up on another route towards your house. And that's when I saw you. I pulled to the side of the road at a decent distance. But I still saw you. I saw you hug him, and I saw you smile up at him. When he turned around, I recognized him. That's that dude from the bar. Did she already know him and played dumb? No, there is no way. Leena isn't like that.

You started walking away, so I drove back into the road and pulled up next to you. "Leena... get in the car, please." At first she jumped not expecting me, but then she looked at me, turned and continued walking. "Leena please can we just talk. I don't want to leave here without talking to you. Please." She stopped, "Ok." She got in the car without even looking at me. "Speak." She was acting so cold... I had never acted like that... "Leena, I'm so sorry... I never meant for this to all happen. I didn't mean to fall in love with her..." I waited for a reaction, a response, something and I got nothing from her. "It started six months ago... The day we all three were supposed to go to the movies but you had an exam the following day and wanted to stay home and prepare yourself. Told us just to go without you and we did. But I didn't expect the night to go how it did. Her company was nice. And I ended up kissing her. She pushed back and told me she couldn't. She had said she couldn't do that to you. That no matter how she felt, I was your boyfriend and she had to accept that." I looked at her and she was staring out the window. Not a peep nor movement from her. So I had continued, "I respected that you weren't ready for sex, but I started taking a toll on me. We used to all hang together and I would notice Paola a lot differently. We started hanging as just friends without you knowing. At the time I never saw anything wrong with that. But then she kissed me one day and I kissed her back... One thing led to the other... and I know you know what went down from there. Paola felt so bad she didn't talk to me for two weeks. But then she came around again." I heard her sniffle but didn't hear her say anything. "I ended up falling in love with her... I'm sorry Leena. I should've told you, I should have broken things off the moment I realized I was falling for another woman. I wish it wasn't your best friend... but it is and I can't take back all the damage I already caused you. I understand if you want nothing to do with me after today and I understand if you'd want me to leave once I get you home. But I am truly sorry Leena. You are my favorite person that will never change. You're such a beautiful soul and I'm so sorry I hurt you this way. And I don't ever expect you to forgive me but I do hope you heal. Learn to love yourself amazingly and have someone love you the way you should be loved." I looked at her and she was in the same position. Not a word was spoken after that. I pulled onto the road and drove the last fifteen minutes to her house.

Once I pulled into the parking spot she finally spoke, "You guys can head out whenever you're ready to. I don't want to talk to you nor Paola and I hope you both respect that. I need time before we speak." The tears were just running down her face. "I loved you both with everything in me and this," She spread her arms around. "This is a lot. A lot that I can't take right now. Goodbye Jacob." She got out of the car and went straight inside. I sat in the car for a few more minutes.
