Six months later.

It's been six months since we had all the agencies we signed up with put up our family's profile to adopt a baby or child. We have not heard anything yet but we were patient and knew our time would come. We explained what we could as best as we could to Lila. Because at almost three years old, we could only explain it in so many ways. She would grow up to always know the children as her siblings and nothing less. We were anxious to know when we'd be blessed to adopt but until then we continued to be great parents to just Lila.

It was the day we were celebrating Lila's birthday. Not a huge party, just dinner and cake on the evening of her birthday. Jake and his family were coming over and Luka's parents. Mine would come on the weekend to spend time with Lila. I was mid preparations, when I got a phone call. "Luka , love, my phone is ringing and my hands aren't clean to answer." He jogged over and picked it up, putting it on speaker. It was one of the agencies! "Hello?" It was quiet for a few seconds. "Hello?" I tried again. "Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson?" Luka looked at me anxiously. "Yes?" I responded. "We have some information about your request to adopt a child. We have a family that wants to meet with you." My heart exploded. "They want to meet with you. So we have to plan a meeting." She spoke and spoke but I was in a complete daze. I saw Luka responding to everything she was saying but I couldn't hear anything. My eyes began to gloss over. I couldn't believe our chance was now. I saw Luka hang up. "When's the day?" I was so excited. "Friday at 2:00 pm." He smiled so big and pulled me into a huge hug. That evening we celebrated Lila. We kept our news to ourselves until after the meeting. To know how it would go and if they do choose us for sure.

Friday came along quicker than we thought. Luka and I were completely nervous. We had Lila with us as we waited to get called into this meeting. A few minutes later we were called in. The family we met were very young. She looked no older than about eighteen years old. We were introduced to each other. They asked about us and told us about themselves. They were putting their twins into adoption because they were both too young to care for babies. And they had no trusted family to give the children to. So if they chose us we would just have one baby but two. The meeting went great and the agency told us they will give us a call soon. We hoped and prayed they picked us.

A week later we got another phone call from the agency. Their family was pleased with us and wanted us to adopt their twins. We didn't know the genders because they chose not to know since they didn't want to get too attached. So we respected their wishes and kept the gender a secret. She was thirty weeks pregnant. And being that they were twins, she was scheduled to have a C-section at 37 weeks.

We shared the news with our close ones and everyone was so happy for us. We bought a few gender neutral items to start us off and waited the few weeks. Time went by and she gave birth to a baby girl and a baby boy. We named them Laylani Jolee Anderson and Landon Jace Anderson. Lila was beyond happy to have a baby sister and brother. We were blessed and happy. Who would have thought I'd get all of this.
