28: Turning to ashes/Unfriendly Foe

The guardians made no sounds as they watched Kiara weep over Hatter, they just stood still and dipped their own heads in mourning. When the entity's body reduced itself to ash, Ora howled to signal his passing, with Empyr letting out a sorrowful roar that could break the coldest of hearts.

Mandoria transformed into this kingdom body and walked to Kiara, kneeling down and wrapping one large wing around both her and Luz.

"Don't be upset," he tried to reassure them, "his soul will find its way to the kingdom of the Great Beyond and we will see to it that he is rewarded for his sacrifice with guardianship, he'll live again, just not as before."

"We must go now," Empyr said, "now that the barrier is restored, its harmful effects will take its toll on us."

"Yes, and even though I said we couldn't, I think it best that we take you back, to help inform the others of Hatter's passing," Mandoria offered.

Ora nodded in agreement, the two looked at Empyr and he got the hint, he walked over and blew a small flame in a circle in front of them, which turned into a portal. They all patiently waited for Luz and Kiara to be able to move.

M:

Luz breathed out sharply. It was true that if they stayed there longer, the repercussions of the rift could be disastrous for them. They weren't as holy and immoral anymore. That fact was proved by Hatter's sudden and tragic death.

Souls do not die..do they? That simple yet complex question trotted back and forth in the girl's head.

She glanced over to Kiara, who caterwauled as she cradled her deceased companion's ashes, the last material thing that she had left of him. It stung hard, it burned in her chest. She successfully wiped her teary eye and dried the water from her face with her sleeve. Gently she tipped over and rubbed her twin's shoulders.

-"It's not your fault " She assured the other girl, who simply shut her eye and bend her looming shoulders forward, opening her mouth only to let out a soundless scream.

-"Hey Kiki, would you like me to carry you?" She quietly inquired. After seeing how the other squeezed the dust particles close to herself it became obvious she wouldn't leave them even for all the gold in the world. Kiara gave her a nod, sniffing and sobbing. Luz scooped her other self and carefully carried her towards the inter-dimensional portal that Empyr created.

-"Htanr cou ..." She thanked all three entities as she came closer.

All the five prevailing entities, if we consider Kiara and Luz as individuals, marched slowly through the portal, the door that led to another realm. To the dimension where Mandara and the rest of his folks were, where there was a little girl who eagerly awaited their return, oblivious yet of what had occurred.

By the time Hatter, Umbra, and Mandoria joined the two other Aberra to help fix the ginormous rift, Cherry and Baxter made their way to the guest room. When the kid said they'll come back in a jiffy, they were nearly almost forced to retreat from their mission after only the first bunch of minutes. The instant Hatter's double turned the door's knob, tons of golf ball-sized furballs rolled in the hallway. They did not only roll, but them having tiny legs, they floated and ran around, letting out extremely high-pitched screeching noises.

-"Oh snap-" Cherry blurted. The doppelgänger turned his head to the kid as he fiddled with the door, unable to sustain it closed.

-"RUN" Was all Baxter managed to shout before both scrambled away to hide in a corner. The clone didn't take long to generate a holographic hand brace blaster and activate it with the magic essence he had in stock.
