"Like what wouldn't happen," Poldara shouted, panicking a bit as he saw Cherry motionless in Luz's arms, "what is going on, why is this so normal to you?"
"Poldara, calm down," MC said, despite the fact that he was that way just a second ago, "I'm sure there is an explanation for this," he looked to Luz, "right?"
C:
-"This isn't normal!," Luz retorted "This is obviously not something humans do, and if we panic it won't help."
Kiara knelt down, pressing a shaky hand over the child's motionless chest. After a minute she sighed with relief, the vital flame was there.
-"We were supposed to look after her!" Luz repeated to her sister.
-"How, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?! WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO IF I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!" Kiara shouted back.
Luz wearily shook her head, gently stroking the child's hair.
-"I'll tell you what happened" She spoke flatly "When you took the child into the shrine, her spirit split away from her body and the vessel was left unattended by the fountain where it drowned itself."
Kiara's face turned pale and she clasped a hand over her mouth. Chandeler took Cherry's hand and lifted it to check the pulse.
-"Gladly I managed to pump all the water from her system ... "Luz finished. "She hadn't woken up yet and if you're all making such a fuss, it means her spirit returned where it belongs, rather abruptly."
It had to be some sort of curse cast upon them, every attempt at having some fun leisurely time was crashed by situations like THIS.
-"It's not my fault! I didn't know that-" Kiara muttered, and her sibling groaned in exasperation.
-"You should have still checked if she was fine! Kiara this isn't a game, we can't lose her too! We already have Hatter gone and you act like you don't care!"
The twins began to altercate over the matter and the voices became louder.
-"I don't care? YOU KNOW WHAT, I ... I-"
The dispute was put to an end as the teenager's hands twitched, fingers clawing at the ground.
Cherry's face contorted into a frown. Her eyes flung open as she gasped for air, she shakily propped herself up and began to cough, spitting petals that she had inhaled along with the fountain water.
M:
"Cherry!" Poldara shouted in relief, he knelt by her and started checking her for injuries like a worried parent, "Cherry are you ok, did you get hurt, gosh your soaking wet, we should get you dry before you catch a cold, do you have a cold, are you feeling sick?"
"Poldara, slow down," Eclipse said, "she's probably feeling overwhelmed more than anything with you hounding her."
Poldara shut his mouth and looked embarrassed that he went all parently on Cherry, Eclipse just rolled his eyes and unclasped his half cape, wrapping it around the teen to keep her warm.
"You're right that this isn't normal," he said to Luz, "and it is dangerous if we leave it how it is, so until we can figure out what's causing it we'll need to prevent it from happening again."
Eclipse drew runes on Cherry's forehead and chest, then summoned gold dust into his hand and sprinkled it onto her head, the dust disappeared when it made contact with her hair and the runes faded away too.
"There, the seal I created will bind Cherry's spirit to her body and prevent it from leaving again, though it will wear off in about two months so I'll have to do this again if we can't figure this out by then."
