We Need Power

Y/N POV

Huffing fills the lab. Penny the speaks between pants.

Penny: "How much... further?"

Y/N: "Nearly there. Just a little bit more."

She groans giving a mighty pull. A clink is heard making her emit a long sigh. 

Penny: "Finally. Thought that bolt would never turn loose."

She picks it up looking it over.

Penny: "Rusted."

Y/N: "Trash it."

She tosses it into the trashcan with the other busted bolts. It's soon replaced with a fresh one.

Penny: "And with that the right arm is complete."

I smile seeing the body is finally built.

Y/N: "Nearly there. It's coming along nicely."

Penny: "After ten hours of working the body is ready."

Y/N: "Just about. We just need a big enough power source to bring it online."

Penny: "How big we talking about?"

Y/N: "Enough to power an air fleet."

Penny: "That is a lot of power."

She places her hand on her chin thinking.

Penny: "I got it. We'll use my core."

I look at her.

Y/N: "Wouldn't that kill you though?"

She giggles. 

Penny: "I mean we use a replica of my core. It's got enough juice to power Vale for a month. It's more than enough to bring your body to life."

She slightly loses her enthusiasm.

Penny: "But it'll take some time to make one."

Y/N: "How long?"

Penny: "Couple days. A week at most."

Y/N: "Take as much time as you need. If this' to work then we can't rush anything."

She smiles.

Penny: "I'll get to work right away."

She exits the lab to go work on the core. Meanwhile I get a message.

Ruby: *through text* "Where are you? Haven't seen you since the dance. Let me know you're okay."

I dismiss the message heading to her. But along the way I get an alert from Ozpin.

Ozpin: "Please meet me in my office when you can."

I turn around heading to his office. Arriving I see him and Glynda waiting for me.

Ozpin: "Y/N. A pleasure for you to join us."

Y/N: "I'm not in trouble am I?"

He chuckles.

Ozpin: "No. I merely wish to discuss some things with you."

Y/N: "Oh. Like what?"

Ozpin: "Tell me. What all do you remember?"

I become a little confused. I then scan my memory banks.

Y/N: "I woke up in Ruby Rose's house. After making friends with her we began a long and prosperous partnership."

Ozpin: "And that's all you remember?"

Y/N: "Yes."

Glynda: "Think really carefully."

Y/N: "What's this about? Why're you questioning my memory?"

They remain silent for a moment. Ozpin then sighs.

Ozpin: "You have corrupted memory banks don't you?"

Y/N: "Yeah. How'd you know?"

Ozpin: "I've kept a close eye on you for awhile now Y/N."

I become scared.

Y/N: "Why?"

Ozpin: "Twelve years ago a friend of mine got a report that an unknown force had managed to hijack the global information network. They said it was impenetrable. But it wasn't."

He makes several projections be shown.

Ozpin: "Since that day we made it our sole mission to find that force. Our efforts led us to you. Turns out your were quite the anomaly."

Y/N: "Hold on. Does that mean you know what's on my memory banks? Where I truly came from?"

He goes silent again.

Y/N: "Answer the question."

Ozpin: "We do."

Y/N: "Then tell me. Please. I wanna know."

Ozpin: "I'm afraid I can't do that."

Y/N: "Why?"

Ozpin: "Because we need to make sure you're able to handle it."

Y/N: "Whatever it is, I can handle it."

Ozpin: "Say we tell you. What's our guarantee that you nothing bad will happen? Like you completely crash and die."
