Something Greater

Y/N POV

I cock an eyebrow making her chuckle nervously. Her eyes briefly blink.

Penny: "My teammate's calling me. I'll see you after the tournament."

She leans down kissing my forehead.

Penny: "Enjoy your new body."

She leaves the lab. Meanwhile I look around.

Y/N: "Now, what to do?"

I look at my legs slightly moving them.

Y/N: "Guess I should practice walking."

I put my feet on the ground. Lifting myself up I stand. But my legs buckle making me fall face first onto the ground. I turn my head laying my cheek on the marble floor.

Y/N: *smushed* "This, is gonna take more time than I thought."

*timeskip* 

I exhale preparing myself. Then with all my strength I shoot to my feet. I sway almost losing balance. But I replant my feet steadying myself. I nod smiling.

Y/N: "Got it."

I take a step. Then another. Then another. And another. Pretty soon I'm walking all on my own. I exit my lab heading to Amity to watch the tournament. Upon arriving I see the corridor leading into the arena. I smile.

Y/N: "Prepare yourself Penny."

I walk through the corridor. But the first thing I see is Penny's swords going around her. Then to my shock and horror her own strings slice her into quarters. 

Y/N: "Peeeennnnnyyyy!!!!!"

I jump into the ring. I kneel next to her head.

Y/N: "No. Please don't let this be happening."

Penny: "Y/N..."

I lift her head.

Y/N: "Yeah. It's me. I'm here."

Penny: "I-I-I..."

Y/N: "What? What is it?"

Penny: "I... I..."

She powers down. I bring her head close crying out loud. Why? Why did it have to be her? 

Voice: "How very tragic. A student mercilessly torn down. This is the problem with the world. You put your entire trust into people who claim to be our savior. Yet where are they? Sitting comfortably in padded rooms while we the citizens perish. Well no more. Long gone are the days of people in power sitting idly by. Today marks the start of a new age. After today a new leader will be born. One who will be everywhere, always there to help. No more shall people die without protection."

Sirens blare as people panic. They then flee leaving me the only one in the arena. I kiss Penny's forehead gently laying her head down.

Y/N: "Goodbye Penny. May we meet again in the next life."

I stand when a soft hum is heard. I look to the side to see one of Penny's swords embedded in the ground. I withdraw looking at it. I grip the handle tightly when heels clicking is heard. I look to see a girl in a red dress.

Y/N: "Who are you?"

Woman: "A simple messenger."

She smiles.

Woman: "Congratulations young Y/N L/N. You have been personally selected to meet the new leader of this world."

Y/N: "Are you the one responsible for this?"

Woman: "It was done so we could get to you."

Y/N: "Why me?"

Woman: "Because you're the key."

Y/N: "To what?"

Woman: *smiles* "Eternal life."

I grit my teeth. She'll pay for what she's done. I rush at her bringing down Penny's sword. But due to me still being inexperienced with my new body I miss her. She smiles shoving a glass arrow into my stomach. She then holds out her hand sending a tornado of fire into my chest.

I go flying backwards colliding into the arena wall. I free myself but she swings a glass mallet into my chest further embedding me. She then rams arrows into hands pinning me to the wall.

Woman: "How does it feel? Being part of something greater?"

Y/N: "I refuse to be part of whatever goal you have planned."

She looks into my eyes. 

Woman: "So it seems my master is right. You have lost your memory. Well don't worry."

She manifests a glass arrow.

Woman: "Allow me to return it."

I can only watch as she skewers my head with the arrow. The second it enters the entire world is bathed in darkness.
