Y/N POV

I pull my jacket tight and look at myself in the mirror. I then nod.

Y/N: "Good enough."

I do a double take. I lean closer looking at my eye. More so my left eye.

Y/N: "When'd my eye turn red?"

I become confused. I could've sworn they were both blue. I shrug, oh well. I look through the bin and pull out a pair of glasses.

I put them on. I look back at the mirror. I then smile seeing they're dark enough to cover my eyes.

Y/N: "Now to go home."

I exit Beacon. I walk through its courtyard when I spot a bullhead.

Y/N: "That'll do."

I enter standing in front of the main console. It's only then I notice a major problem.

Y/N: "I can't fly one of these."

I think when I remember something.

Y/N: "Oh yeah."

I pull a cable from my left wrist. I then plug it into a slot on the console. The bullhead turns on hovering into the air. It then flies to my destination. I withdraw my cable and take a seat. After a while the bullhead lands. I exit looking at the house.

Y/N: *exhale* "Here we go."

I walk up to the door knocking on it. There's several seconds of silence. The door then opens revealing Ruby. I look her over. She has patches on various parts of her face with a bandage wrapped around her forehead.

Ruby: "Can I help you?"

Y/N: "You look good Ruby."

She tilts her head.

Ruby: "Do I know you?"

I work my magic. Crescent Rose flies off the shelf into my hand.

Ruby: "Telekinesis. Not bad."

I smile. I then open a compartment so secret that only her and I know about it. An object falls out. I unfold it displaying a picture of her and I when she first crafted Crescent Rose. This clues her in on who I am. Her eyes widen.

Ruby: "Y/N?"

Y/N: "Hey kid."

She wraps me in tight hug. Her tears then stain my shirt.

Ruby: "I got so worried. I couldn't find you after the tournament. I-I thought..."

I return her hug. I then rub her back.

Y/N: "It's okay. I'm right here."

She tightens her grip. I continue to just hold her. After awhile we break the hug.

Ruby: "So what've you been up to since Beacon fell?"

Y/N: "Mind if I come inside?"

Ruby: "By all means."

We enter the house. Sitting down in the living room I explain everything that happened. By the end I feel the need o cry rising. Ruby sits next to me placing her hand on my back.

Ruby: "I'm sorry about Penny."

Y/N: "I was so helpless Ruby. I could only watch as she was slain."

I clench my fists.

Y/N: "It's not fair. Why did it have to be her? She was innocent. She didn't deserve her fate."

She holds my hand.

Ruby: "I know it may not seem fair. But it's like people say, things happen for a reason. Maybe this happened so something even better can happen."

Y/N: "I can only hope so."

Her scroll dings. She looks at it.

Y/N: "What's that about?"

She looks at me.

Ruby: "Me and the others are about to go on a mission."

Y/N: "What kinda mission?"

Ruby: "One that'll hopefully provide answers."

She smiles holding out her hand.

Ruby: "Whaddaya say? Wanna join us?"

I think, it'd be a good distraction. It might even give me some answers. I smile grabbing her hand.

Y/N: "Y/N L/N. At your service."
