Seulgi's POV
I went to Uncle Soo-geun to visit my dad after I finished my practice. I always visit my dad every time I don't race. I even lied to Yeji earlier that I would meet my old friend. It was not a lie actually because my dad is also my friend."Good evening, Auntie." I greeted and bowed at Auntie Hee-kyung when she opened the door after I pressed the doorbell. She is Uncle Soo-geun's wife.
She smiled when she saw me. "Hi there, Seulgi. Come in."
"Where's uncle, auntie?" I asked as I removed my shoes from the entryway.
"He has night duty." She answered and closed the door. Uncle is a police officer, Dad's workmate before.
I looked at her and handed her the cookies that I bought. "This is for you, auntie."
I always give them food to show gratitude to them for taking care of my dad. I couldn't bring my dad to my condo because Yeji sometimes went there.
"Thank you for this. Min-hyung will like it. But I told you, you don't have to buy us food." She said. I followed her when she walked inside their house.
Min-hyung is her son, and he is also a backup dancer in SG Entertainment but in a different dance crew. His stage name is Mark Lee.
"Don't worry, auntie. I'm always willing to give food to a beautiful woman."
"Are you referring to my daughter?" She asked me with a teasing look.
Her daughter's name is Ji-eun, also known as IU. She is one of SG Entertainment's record producers. Auntie always teased me to her daughter.
I chuckled. "To the both of you. Anyway, Auntie, where's Dad?"
"He is in his room."
"Okay, Auntie. Can I go to him?" I asked politely.
"Of course, you can. But have you eaten?"
I nodded, "Yes, Auntie, before I went here. Please excuse me." I bowed after.
"Okay, Seulgi. Suit yourself."
I walked towards my dad's room and entered. I saw him lying on his bed and staring at the ceiling. He seemed so deep in his thoughts that he didn't notice my presence.
"Hi, Dad. How are you?"
He was startled and sat on the bed with a smile when he saw me. "Hey, buddy. I'm good. I always got plenty of rest. And the people here always help me even though I didn't ask to."
I nodded and sat on the edge of his bed. "Did you do light exercise?"
He scratched his head. "Sometimes." He answered and laughed.
I frowned. "Dad, I told you that you need that. Your doctor said it can boost your energy level. But, of course, you have to be careful not to push yourself too hard."
"Sorry, Doc. I don't want to do it when I don't have a companion. I just did light exercise when Soo-geun walked with me whenever he was free."
I sighed and stood up. "Let's go, Dad. Let's have a short walk outside."
Dad chuckled. "Okay. Let me get change first." He said and stood up.
"Take your time, Dad. I'm just going outside." I said while pointing my thumb to the door.
He nodded. "Okay."
I left his room and went to the living room where Auntie is there. She looked at me when she noticed me. "Are you going home already?"
I shook my head. "No, Auntie. I'm waiting for my dad to get changed. We will walk for a while so he can have light exercise."
She nodded. "That's good. Have a sit first while waiting for him."
I obeyed. "Where's noona and Min-hyung, auntie?"
Ji-eun noona and Min-hyung still live with them because their house is near the SG company. You can even walk the distance from here to the company.
"Ji-eun is already asleep while Min-hyung is still having practice."
I nodded. "How's dad here, auntie? Is he stubborn?"
She shook her head, "No. He's good at associating with us. He was never a burden to us. In fact, he doesn't ask for help when he is doing something. But I noticed he's been spacing out lately. He always seemed to be in deep thought."
I was about to ask when Dad arrived already. "Let's go, buddy." Dad looked at Auntie. "Oh. I thought you were not here." Dad said to Auntie, and they both laughed. "We're just going outside, Hee-kyung."
Auntie nodded. "Okay. Take care."
I stood up and bowed to Auntie before Dad and I left the house. We were quietly walking in the park when I broke the silence. "I'm sorry, Dad. I couldn't walk with you every day. But I'll try to go here every morning as much as possible."
"You don't have to say sorry to me, buddy. I should be the one who should say that. You didn't finish your studies, you're paying a debt you didn't owe, and you had to keep a secret from your mom and sister because of me. I'm sorry." He said sincerely. "And please, stop living your life for me and have your own life."
"I am living my own life, Dad."
"How can you say that if you're just dancing, racing, and working just because of me?"
"I also love what I'm doing, Dad. And I'm enjoying it too." I softly said.
He sighed at what I said. He sat on one of the benches and patted the space beside him.
"I wanted to tell you something, Seulgi." He said after I sat next to him.
I looked at him curiously. "What is it, Dad?"
He took a deep breath first, "I... I wanted to stop my therapy now."
I looked at him in surprise. "What?! Why?! You're getting better now, Dad."
"But I'm... I'm already tired in my every therapy." He looked away. "I'm getting stressed every time I have my treatment. I'm losing hope every year that passes because it reduces my chances of survival. I just wanted to die now, Seulgi."
I bit my lips and looked up to prevent the emotions that I was feeling after I heard what he said. I sighed after minutes of calming myself and stood up. I looked at him afterward. "You can't die, Dad," I said in a controlled voice. He looked at me. "You still have debts to pay to me. So keep fighting." I forced a smile. "Let's go. It's getting late."
He stood up, and we walked back to uncle's house without talking to each other and busy with our own thoughts.
"Thanks for visiting me, buddy," Dad said when we were in front of the door.
I smiled, "You're always welcome, Dad. I got to go now. Good night." I said before we man hug.
Dad smiled after we pulled away from each other. "Good night, buddy."
