Seulgi's POV
I woke up to the constant ringing of my phone. I took it from the bedside table and answered the call after I saw it was Dad. "Hello, Dad?"

"I'm cancer-free now, buddy!"

I sat up immediately after I heard that. "Really?!" I asked happily, and my sleepiness suddenly disappeared because of the good news.

"Yes! My doc---"

I cut him off. "Where are you, Dad?"

"At Soo-geun's house. Why?"

"Okay. I'll go there now. Bye." I said and hung up the call.

I want to hear, in person, what Dad has to say and ask for details. So, I immediately went to Uncle Soo-geun's house after I got ready.

When I got there, Dad and I talked for a few minutes. And because of overflowing happiness, I called Wendy and Jisoo to tell them the good news, and they were euphoric to hear that. Wendy even told me to treat her when we meet, while Jisoo told me to cook dinner tonight to celebrate, and I happily agreed with them.

Even though I was late at the said time, I was still happy driving to my grandparents' house. My grandparents called all of us today because they will announce something.

The guard on the gate of my grandparents' house bowed and immediately opened the gate after he saw me when I stopped. I returned the gesture to him before driving inside. I quickly parked my motorbike in the parking space and ran towards the front door.

The maids greeted me when I entered the house, and I also greeted them. Then, I immediately went upstairs to where my grandparents' office was.

I knocked on the door before opening it. "I'm so sorry for making you wait," I apologized after I entered while bowing my head to them.

But I was surprised when someone slapped me as soon as I looked up. I looked in surprise at my mom, who did it.

"Why did you hide it from us, Seulgi?!" Mom asked in rage. Auntie Mi-seon and Auntie Jin Kyung held my mom's arms to prevent her from doing something again.

"W-what do you mean, Mom?" I asked in puzzlement.

"I'm sorry, Seulgi. They heard us talking about your dad's real condition." My grandma said apologetically. Oh, shit!

"So, you're going to hide it from us even though Dad is already gone, oppa?! You even let me say bad things about him though you know his condition!" Yeji said with a trace of resentment in her voice. "I wasn't even a good daughter to him." She said, like talking to herself, with her head down. Yoo-jin noona was beside her and rubbing her back to calm her down.

"Are you just going to let your dad die in sorrow, knowing his family hates him for doing nothing, huh Seulgi?" Mom chides me.

"Mom, let me expl---"

Mom cut me off, "Explain with your lies again?! I can't believe you hid it, Seulgi!"

I tightened my jaw. I can't take it anymore. "Do you think it was easy for me to hide it?! To not tell the truth even if it's against my will?! Do you think you were the only ones who were hurting here?! You don't know how much I suffered because of this! You don't know how much I was hurt when I saw him struggling because of his illness! W-when he wanted to end his life." My voice broke at the latter sentence. I looked up while biting my lips to hold back my tears. I looked at the floor and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry for lying. I don't want to lie either, but I have to do it for Dad." I said in a low voice before I looked at my grandparents. "I'm leaving." I bowed at them and quickly left the room.
