Chapter 31

Seulgi's POV
It's been three days since my mom's birthday. Mom celebrated her birthday at my grandparents' house, and all her siblings went there, including their family.

It was also three days since Chaeyeon didn't go to our practice because of her sprain. However, I was surprised when I bumped into her today after I went outside the practice room to go to the rooftop to do my session since it was still early.

I was surprised not because she attended our practice today but because of her swollen eyes.

"Are you okay?" I asked in worried when I stopped in front of her.

She looked at me with teary eyes and sniffed first before she hugged me. "Oppa." She said with a broken voice and sobbed.

"What happened?" I softly asked while patting her back lightly and slowly, comforting her.

"He... He broke up with me yesterday."

"What?! Why?" I asked in confusion.

"He saw the video of our busking in Japan the day we returned here. And he thought we kissed because of the angle of the camera. He didn't confront me that time and let it slide. But he also saw us when you helped me to go to the lobby when I got sprained on my foot." She said with her voice muffled because her face was on my chest.

I frowned, "Why did he get mad when he saw you were in pain that time?"

"You know I acted not hurt at that time, right?"

Oh, right. She was ashamed to draw attention from others, so she pretended she didn't have a sprained foot and walked normally even though she was hurting. Sometimes, you can't really understand her antics, but that was one of the reasons why I loved her.

"How can he see us in the lobby? I didn't notice him that time."

"He..." She sniffed. "He was already inside the company when I texted him. And he... He suspected that I was doing something. So he hid and... was mad when he saw me with my ex having physical contact and drove for me. I was confused when he didn't contact me that night after he messaged me that he had an important thing to do. So when my foot was already okay yesterday, I went to his house, but he just broke up with me."

I raised my eyebrow, "And you didn't explain everything and let him break up with you?"

"I did, but he didn't believe me. I also said that he couldn't break up with me unless we both agreed about that matter."

"So you didn't break up?" I asked, and she nodded. "Then, what's wrong? Why are you crying if you didn't break up then?" I asked in confusion.

She sniffed, "He gave me the cold shoulder until now. It hurts that he didn't trust me, oppa. It hurts..."

"Then, break up with him. In a relationship, if you can't trust your partner in anything they do or say, it's a sign of an unhealthy relationship that will not last long."

She whined, "I can't, oppa. I love him. I don't want to lose him."

I sighed, "Then what can I do to make you feel better? You know I don't want to see someone sad."

"Kiss me."

I held her shoulder and pulled her lightly away from me to look at her. I frowned, "What the hell, Chaeyeon-ah?"

I looked behind Chaeyeon when I noticed a group of people walking towards us. I saw Wendy look at me with wide eyes. She is with her members. Based on their reaction, it looked like she was the only one who heard what Chaeyeon said. Yeri and Joy are busy bickering with each other, while Joohyuna is busy on her phone. They didn't notice us and passed us by.

I looked at Chaeyeon again when I heard her sniff with her head down. "You know your kiss makes me calm down, oppa."

"Are you kidding me?! Do you want to break up with your boyfriend completely?!" I whispered to her in disbelief.

Chaeyeon looked at me and pouted. "I'm just fooling around. And I think I really have to make a gap between us because I don't want to break up with oppa." She said and wiped her cheeks.

I chuckled, "We already advised you about that, didn't we? But you just now decided to do it when your relationship was unstable."

"Because I don't see anything wrong about making friends with my ex. But I now realize that other people might misinterpret it and give malice about it."

I smiled at what she said. "I'm glad you already get what we wanted to point out."

I removed my hands from her and was about to leave when she asked me. "Where are you going?"

"Do my session. Go inside. Myungsoo hyung and Junho hyung are already there."

She nodded, "Thanks for comforting me, oppa." She smiled before she left me.

I smiled as I watched her walk away and decided to go to the rooftop after she entered the practice room.

I looked at my phone to see what time is it after I arrived at the rooftop, but I saw messages from Wendy instead.

"How could you flirt with your ex? And not just your ex, she also has a boyfriend! What if you get into a fight because of that?!"

"And you even touched her! You're not the type who would touch a girl. You rarely hug us back when we hug you! And noted, you didn't lay your hands on us! But to her, you even patted her back!"

"You said you didn't like her. Did your feelings change again, or did you lie to me?!"

"And I thought Yeji is special to you?! How could you do that to her?!"

"You're really a flirt, Seulgi!"

"I'm annoyed at you right now!"

I laughed after I read her messages and didn't reply to her. I just finished my session before I went to the cafeteria to buy yogurt ice cream for Chaeyeon.

I went inside the practice room and saw my team were all already here, looking at Chaeyeon. She was sitting on the floor with her eyes closed while leaning on the wall, far away from them.

I walked towards Chaeyeon and stopped in front of her. "Here."

She opened her eyes and looked at me. "What's that?"

"Ice cream," I simply answered.

She smiled, but it was a sad one. "I'm okay, oppa. Thank you."

"It's yogurt. But okay, I'll just eat it instead." I said and shrugged my shoulder.

She immediately grabbed it and looked at the flavor, checking if I was telling the truth. "I said I'm okay if I have this." She smiled at me widely. "You really know my weakness, oppa."

"Of course, we dated for too long. And if you change your mind, we can continue our relationship." I said and winked at her.

She laughed, "No, thanks. I'm happy with Taeyong oppa."

"Is he happy with you?"

She glared at what I asked. "You're so mean, oppa!"

I laughed, "I'm just kidding. Finish it now. We're going to start any minute." I said and walked away from her.

"What happened to her?" Hyoyeon noona asked me in a low voice after I sat with them.

"Lovers quarrel," I answered.

"Oh, that's sad. No wonder Chaeyeon is gloomy today." Sooyoung noona commented.

"Lesson learned: don't love, you will just hurt." We just laughed at what Junho hyung said.
