Irene's POV
"Unnie, you want milk, right?" Yeri asked Jisoo during our lunch in the restaurant that we usually go to.We decided to eat together when we found out we all didn't have a schedule today.
Jisoo nodded, "Did you buy one for me?"
"I bought different flavors of milk when we went to Japan after I remembered that you like it. Actually, it's in my backpack now."
"Really?! Thank you, Yeri-ya!" Jisoo said happily. "Can I have it now?"
"You can. But..." Yeri trailed off.
"What? There's a condition?" Jisoo asked in disbelief.
Yeri nodded, "Yes, unnie. Nothing is free now."
"But I gave you earlier a perfume you like from Thailand!" Jisoo whined. We just laughed at their childishness.
"But you said, unnie, giving is not expecting something in return, right?" Yeri said and smirked.
Jisoo pouted with an annoyed face. "Indulge yourself in all that milk, then."
"You don't like it anymore?" Yeri asked and took out the grocery bag with different flavors of milk from her backpack. Jisoo's eyes widened while looking at it, while Yeri acted disappointed and shrugged her shoulders. Yeri looked at Lisa after. "Lisa unnie, do you want to try my challenge in exchange for these?" She asked while giving a meaningful look at Lisa.
It seems that Lisa got what Yeri wanted to do. "Is the milk delicious?"
Yeri nodded, "Yes, unnie. And do you know there's a difference between Korean milk and Japan's milk? I tried one earlier, and there's a huge difference." Yeri said with an exaggerated expression.
"Oh, I wanted to have it. What is your challenge, then?" Lisa acted eager.
Yeri was about to speak when Jisoo spoke first. "Yah. Don't give my milk to her." She sighed in defeat. "Okay. What is your condition?"
Yeri smiled in victory. "It's just simple, unnie. You will only call the chef and ask for his/her number."
"Oh, I can do that," Jisoo confidently said before pressing the button to call a waiter.
After a minute, the waiter arrived and bowed to us. "Good afternoon, ma'am. Is there something that you need?"
"Can you call the chef who cooked this dish?" Jisoo asked the waiter and pointed to the japchae.
The waiter nodded, "Sure, ma'am."
"You know what, unnie, we have a Japan store here," Joy said after the waiter left.
"I know. But I'll just save the money I'm supposed to pay for these milks to buy more milk." Jisoo explained and smirked.
"You have a lot of money to buy milk, unnie. You don't even have to do what Yeri wanted." Rosé said.
"It's okay. The condition is easy as pie, though." Jisoo said.
"Just let her, unnies. Sometimes, we need to have some fun." Yeri said and giggled.
We looked at the door when someone knocked on it, and we all gasped in surprise when the chef entered.
The chef bowed to us and looked at Jisoo. "Is there something wrong with the dish I cooked, ma'am?" He formally asked.
"Seulgi/oppa?!" They asked in surprise.
Yes, the chef is Seulgi. Joy and Yeri ran toward Seulgi and hugged him. "We missed you, oppa." They both said with their baby voice.
Seulgi smiled and hugged them without laying his hands on them. "I missed my turtle and my chick too."
"Oppa, why didn't you tell us you were leaving the company?" Joy asked after they broke from their hugs.
"I'm sorry. I didn't find a chance to say goodbye because my mom was waiting for me that day." Seulgi explained.
"We were so sad after we heard you left your team," Yeri said.
"I know. It's really sad that it lessened one of your handsome dancers." Seulgi playfully said. He laughed when the two grimaced while going back to their seat again.
Seulgi looked at the others and smiled at them as a greeting before he looked at Jisoo again. "Hi, ma'am. Why did you call me?"
"Did you cook it?" Jisoo asked while pointing to the japchae.
Seulgi nodded, "Yes, ma'am. Doesn't it taste good?" He asked in concern.
"Don't be too formal, Seulgi oppa, as if we didn't have dinner before. And about the dish, it's really delicious. I just wanted to acknowledge who made this, and I'm surprised that you're the one who cooked it. I didn't know you're good at cooking."
"I'm not good yet and still learning, but thank you for the appreciation." Seulgi smiled sheepishly. "Uhmm... Is there anything else you need before I leave?"
"Can I have your number?" Seulgi looked flabbergasted at Jisoo's question. "I already have the number of all my friends except you. I forgot to ask your number the last time we met. You're my friend, aren't you?"
Seulgi smiled and nodded, "Sure. No problem."
Jisoo handed her phone to Seulgi, who took it and typed something on her phone. After that, he gave back the phone to Jisoo again.
"Can I contact you when I'm bored?" Jisoo asked after she got her phone.
"You can contact me anytime. But right now, I left my phone in my condo. I'll bring it every day starting tomorrow for you." He said and winked at Jisoo.
Jisoo laughed, "Okay. I will really contact you if I get bored. I'm not kidding."
Seulgi chuckled, "I'm not kidding too. Anyway, I have to go now. There are currently a lot of orders now because people keep coming."
"Okay. Thank you for your time." Jisoo gave him a sweet smile.
Seulgi smiled back, "You're always welcome."
Seulgi was about to leave when Wendy called him with a hint of annoyance in her voice. "Yah! Kang Seulgi!"
Seulgi looked at Wendy in confusion. He didn't even look at me, even though I was beside Wendy. "What? Are you going to compliment me too?" Seulgi asked with a grin.
Wendy stood up and went to Seulgi. "Follow me. Let's talk." Wendy said with a serious face.
Seulgi held her hand to stop her when she was about to grab the door knob. "There's a lot of people outside. They might recognize you."
"I don't care," Wendy said and was about to hold the door knob with her other hand when Seulgi caught it too.
"But I do care. Let's just talk later, okay? My work shift here ends at 5 pm. Just message me where."
"And how can I trust your words when you didn't reply to all my messages?!" Wendy asked in irritation and yanked her hands from Seulgi.
"Are they dating?" Jennie, who was on my other side, whispered to me.
I shook my head. "Their best friend," I whispered too.
She nodded, "They look like a couple." I just raised my eyebrow at what she said.
"I haven't seen it. Like I said earlier, I forgot my phone in my condo." Seulgi explained in a soft voice.
"Really? You haven't seen it in a week? I texted you since last week until now." Wendy said with a skeptical look.
"Yes, I haven't. I've been at our house this past week and just came here this morning to work."
Wendy scrutinized Seulgi for a while before she sighed. "Okay. I'll text you where to meet later."
Seulgi smiled, "Okay. And don't worry, I'll meet you later. But I really have to go now. Auntie might scold me because I've been gone for so long." He said and left the room after Wendy nodded.
I didn't realize this past week that I missed Seulgi not until I saw him today. And it hurts that he didn't look at me even once. I think he is mad at me.
