There is a certain pressure on being the older brother.

And that pressure is even bigger when you have a family as big as mine. Biologically, I have only four siblings, but biology has never been a match for our family.

Athos has always been better than me at leading and setting an example, but since she has been in college the last few years, without realizing it, I have ended up taking her place, even though technically I am not the oldest after her, but Mads is... special.

I would love to say that it was all my merit that I was able to adapt and improve my behavior. That I magically managed to evolve and become a more understanding person on my own, but I would be lying.

When you grow up hearing the story of your parents, uncles and aunts, you can end up being skeptical and not believe a lot of what is said, for example: My Uncle Kai told us that as soon as he met my Aunt Banks, he knew she was the love of his life or how Uncle Will said he fell in love with Aunt Emory when they were fourteen.

My father said he fell in love with my mother when he was eleven and Uncle Michael and Aunt Rika say they have always been in love with each other.

I didn't believe any of that.

I mean, it was obvious that they loved each other and they continue to love each other to this day, but when I was ten years old, the idea of looking at a girl and feeling that she was the one I was going to spend the rest of my life with was absurd.

Until I met her.

"Are you sure you can't stay longer" I hear Beth ask, pulling me out of my thoughts and bringing me back to reality, when I check my cell phone to see the time and feel her hand sliding under my shirt, her nails giving me an involuntary shiver.

"No," I deny and hold her hand at the same time, starting to get up from her sofa, leaving aside the big fluffy blanket that covered us and putting on the team jacket.

"No, you can't stay or No, you're not sure?" - she asks and stands up, clutching my right arm again and placing her lips on my neck. - I can motivate you to stay...

"Beth..."

Elizabeth Pierce is every guy's dream girl in Thunder Bay. She is blonde, tall, has blue eyes and is the captain of the cheerleading squad, so her body is also something spectacular. The two of us were a perfect match, and maybe that was her motivation in asking me to the Sadie Hawkins dance a year ago. Since then, there hasn't been a nomination that she and I haven't won, together or apart.

I put the cell phone in my jeans pocket and look around, trying to see if his mother is still in the kitchen. Maybe if I speak a little louder, she will hear me and I will get a cue to leave.

"I really have to go," I say, saying goodbye and putting an arm around her.

"And when exactly are you going to take me to one of these meetings? We've been together a long time, you should introduce me to your family," she asks in a pout.

"You already know my family," I answer and shrug, innocently.

This whole town knows my family.

"You know what I mean. So far I have only been introduced to your father," she complains, and I know she is right.

But that doesn't mean that I will admit that she is right.

"You also know my brothers and my cousins, Beth. We're all from the same school," I rebut and kiss her lips for a moment, but then let go and walk toward the door. - Have a nice weekend, Mrs. Pierce!

"Thank you, Ivar!" - I hear her say from the second floor.

Beth and her family used to travel a lot and this time they were going to visit her aunt in Vermont and she would only return on Monday.
