Nowadays...

I wake up with the same feeling that has accompanied me for the last few weeks and drag myself to the bathroom, locking the door so that no one can hear me vomiting my guts out in yet another session of morning sickness.

According to what I'd read, this should have been happening all along, but my host had kindly given me a month's peace, having only started waking me up to make me throw up a few weeks ago. But the sensation was really terrible and left me weak, sitting on the floor for a long time.

"Good morning to you too," I say, looking at my stomach and getting up to take a cold shower, which I've always enjoyed and which now brings me enormous relief.

Cryotherapy has also helped me, although nowadays I eat a lot of the ice I bring into the bath, and I consider it one of my pregnancy wishes.

I look in the mirror when I get out of the bath and I can see the difference.

Ivarsen swears he doesn't see any change, but I know I can't get into some of my tightest jeans anymore and I don't even try to zip them up. Although I don't know what I'm going to do with my life and I'm afraid of what will happen to me, I've always been sure that I don't want to hurt my host.

"Good morning" Finn greets me when I come out of the bathroom and see her perched at the window, her eyes unable to hide her excitement about the day ahead.

"Good morning, Finnie. Did you wake up super early or didn't you even sleep?" I ask, starting to choose an outfit so that I can go back to the bathroom and get dressed, hoping that she doesn't realize I'm doing it.

"Are you sick?" she asks, looking worried after taking a good look at me when I come in.

"No, why?"

"I heard you throwing up... I thought I'd call Mom, but—"

"No need" I interrupt her and try to think of something to say quickly. – "I think I ate something that wasn't good for me yesterday."

"Are you in pain? Will you be able to go to the dance and take part in Fire Night?"

"Don't worry, it was no big deal. And I'm already feeling a lot better," I assure her, hurrying out of the bathroom in a navy-blue sweater and black leggings to sit down next to her. – "Now tell me, what should I expect about this particular day?"

It was crystal clear that just as Devil's Night began its celebrations on Evernight and ended only after All Hallows' Eve, Fire Night began celebrations that would probably end only after Christmas and was so exciting and involved everyone that I soon found myself eager to take part, since this had been a curiosity of mine since I was a little girl, and now I would have the opportunity to witness it first hand.

"Hm, what do you say we start the day with a surprise?" Finn asks, an eager smile appearing on his face, and takes my hand to lead me to the door. – "Dad, you can come now!"

Finn announces as he opens the door, the smell of brownies hitting me hard and making my stomach rumble. I've been eating regularly, but my hunger seems to have doubled and if I'd intended to continue hiding my pregnancy to the limit, that plan was going down the drain, because every day my appetite only increased and I knew that my weight would soon rise as well.

"So, how do you want to do this?" Will asks me, walking up the stairs with a blindfold in his hands.

I hold back my laughter and raise an eyebrow.

"It depends, what do I get if I let you blindfold me?"

He rolls his eyes as he reaches the second floor and stands in front of me.
