This takes place at the beginning of season 2. After Meredith found out about Derek wife and is trying to move on from him. But something comes up might change her life forever.
It's a few hours into the day and I sent a town car to pick up my mother but they keep saying she's not there enough she said she was going to be there.
I'm currently on the phone with the guy.
"Well she's supposed to be there- no, just stay there, wait for her," I say when I feel a tap on my shoulder.
I turn around and see my mother. "Never mind, i found her," I say before hanging up my phone.
"There's a town car waiting for you, you know?" I say.
"I don't need a fancy car, I saved you some money," she says.
"Could have at least texted me so I didn't get worried,"
"So, where are these children you claim to have, and did you really leave for the first two years of their lives and letting another man raise them?" She said with a disappointed look.
"Yes, I'm not proud of it but they won't remember it so if we don't tell them them I have nothing to worry about it," I force a smile.
"Still, your girlfriend will remember it. The other father, is he still in the picture?" She asks.
"Um.. no, he actually has a wife and a son that Meredith never knew about," I say.
"That poor girl, it must be hard to have every man you fall in love with end up married," she sighs.
"No offence taken," I say.
"No, you should be ashamed for leaving the woman you love and two children for that horrible women you called your wife, I never liked her from the beginning," she says.
"Then why did you let me marry her?" I ask.
"Let you? It's not my job to tell you who you can and can't be with, I told you something seemed off about her and you ignored me.. even if I told you how I felt about her you wouldn't have taken it for an answer because you didn't see what I saw. That's the reason I didn't give you my blessing to marry her," she says.
"Addison liked you a lot, Ma," I say.
"No she didn't. She just figured that an old woman like me wouldn't say anything and knew nothing about relationships in this generation... if this one is as bad as it is imagine how bad the next one will be," she sighs.
"I get to know, I'm raising two of them... and maybe a third," I say.
"What?" She looks at me shocked.
"Meredith might be pregnant, again. She told me she took a test but she never told me the results," I say.
She continues to look at me without saying anything.
"I don't know, Meredith has a habit of changing the subject without realizing and she rambles a lot when she's nervous.. you also have to talk to her on a few occasions before being able to have a good vision of what kind of person she is," I say.
"You seem nervous, why are you nervous?" she asks.
"I'm not nervous, I just know Meredith is and so is Mallory and she's a lot like Meredith," I say.
"I'm sure it'll be fine," she nods.
*************************
it's a bit after and I'm currently having lunch in the cafeteria with my mother, Meredith, Mallory, and Miles.
I'm holding Mallory on my lap and Miles is on Meredith's lap as we feed both of the kids from our food.
"So Mallory.. how old are you?" my mother asks as Mallory takes a bite from my spoon.
she holds up two fingers before pressing her head into my chest.
"Mallory's a little shy," I kiss her head.
"Meredith, have you chosen a specialty yet?" she asks.
"I enjoy neuro but I'm not sure it's something I want to do for the rest of my career so I might go into general," she says.
"nurse cut mama's hand in surgery," Miles says as he eats chips off of Meredith's tray.
"When was this?" I ask.
"it was nothing, it was a few days ago," Meredith says.
"Which nurse?" I ask.
"she want to marry you," Miles says.
"How do you know all this?" Meredith asks Miles.
"You talk a lot," he says as he reaches for her drink cup. she picks it up and puts the straw to his lips.
"what's this?" my mom asks.
"there's a nurse who likes me but doesn't like Meredith," I say.
"Let me see your hand," I tell Meredith I hold out my hand.
she places me her hand in mine and I see a large gash on her hand with stitches.
"Rose did that to you?" I ask as she pulls her hand back.
"yes, but I'm fine," she tells me.
we continue eating and talking about our careers and the kids.
