Derek.

Meredith decided to schedule the birth. she couldn't take being pregnant anymore. she could hardly do anything herself which caused her to be annoyed which led to getting angry which led to her crying for thirty minutes and then another ten minutes when she can't hug me comfortably because of her stomach.

her birth will be induced in a few days which is the soonest they could do but I'm pretty sure Meredith would give birth in the tub if she could.

Mallory's complaining that she can't find a clean pair of her ballet clothes and Meredith did the laundry last so I go into our room to ask her where they are.

"Mer, Mallory can't find her ballet clothes, do you know where they are-" I say but stop when I step in a wet puddle by the door.

"Meredith, what is this?" I ask her.

"I think I peed?" she says coming from the bathroom.

"what do you mean think?" I ask her. "Well it didn't feel like I had to pee but then all of a sudden there was a puddle on the floor and then I got a huge cramp. Derek, I think my water broke," she says with a surprised look on her face when it hits her.

"You think? now isn't the time for a blonde moment Mer," I say. "whatever, screw ballet. call your mom to watch the kids and then grab the diaper bag. I'll go tell the kids," she says as she goes as leaves the room.

I open the closet and grab the diaper bag. I installed a baby carrier a month ago so that's already in the car.

when my mother arrives we get into the car and I drive to the hospital. they get Meredith settled in and we wait for the doctor to come.

The doctor comes in and tells us that she's in labour and she is three centimetres dilated before he leaves the room.

"This is going to take forever and be very painful," she groans.

"Do you want any pain meds, an epidural?" He asks. "No, I want to do this without any drugs," she says.

"Are you sure? It's going to hurt a lot," I say. "I know, I've delivered many babies in my days," she says.

Meredith groans as she leans back onto the bed. She has tears streaming down her face and sweat on her neck and forehead.

"Do you need anything, is there anything I can get you?" I say as I dab a towel on her forehead.

"Ice chips," she says. "Okay, I'll be right back," I kiss her cheek before leaving the room.

8cm

Meredith is taking a small nap while her contractions have stopped for a bit.

"Ow," she says as she starts to wake up. "Squeeze my hand," I tell her. She sits up a bit and squeezes my hands tightly through her contraction.

"We're never having another baby," she says as she wipes the tears from her eyes.

"You know there's something called drugs," I kiss her forehead.

"I don't need drugs, I'm almost at ten centimetres, I'll be fine,"

"And then you have to start pushing and then the pain will get worse," I tell her.

"Next time I have a baby I want it to be with a different man," she drops my hand and turns away from me.

"No, no. I'm sorry, I don't know why I said that. It'll only take a few pushes and then we'll have our beautiful baby, and if we do ever have another baby you can get an epidural next time," I say.

"Okay," she says closing her eyes again.

10cm

"Alright Meredith, it's time to push," the doctor says as she's now ten centimetres dilated.

"Are you ready?" I ask as she sits up and takes my hand.

"No, but I have to be," she says. "Squeeze my hand as hard as you need, don't worry about hurting me," I tell her. She nods.

"Alright, start pushing," the doctor tells her.

She squeezes my hand tightly as she pushes for the first time. She screams in pain as she does.

"That was great Meredith, I can start seeing the head coming through. Just a few more pushes like that and we'll be done in no time," the doctors.

"Keep going, you're doing great," I say. She pushes again... and again... and again... and again.

"Alright, your baby's here!" The doctor says as Meredith collapses on the bed.

"And it's a girl!" He says as the baby starts crying. He cleans off the baby and wraps her in a blanket.

He walks over to me and hands me the baby. I smile down at her as my eyes start to well up.

I lift her up and kiss her forehead before laying her on my chest

"She should be fine, her body's been through a lot and she didn't tear so she won't need any stitches and she should wake up soon," he says. "Congratulations," he says before leaving the room.

Meredith and already have a name picked out for her, we're just working on a middle name.

I kiss the side of her head and hold her in my hands to look at her. Her eyes fitter open and she squints her beautiful light green eyes.

She doesn't have much hair but the little hair she had is blonde. She looks just like Mer. I love her so much already.
