This takes place at the beginning of season 2. After Meredith found out about Derek wife and is trying to move on from him. But something comes up might change her life forever.
Derek has the weird intern on his service today but it's getting weird. She's always being weird around me. She's fine with everyone else but with me she's weird.
I don't think she's actually uncomfortable around me, I think she's just doing it because she wants to be 'different' because she's the only one in the hospital who doesn't like me.
At the hospital in Seattle, everyone hated me but surprisingly in New York they like me, except for this one intern.
Derek is up in daycare with the kids right now I'm pretty sure, that's where he said he was going.
I'm waiting for the MRI scans to come up when I see Derek standing at the entryway with Hope in his arms.
"Hey, love, did you need something?" I ask. "I think the twins got Hope sick," he says as he walks in.
"The twins aren't sick anymore," I say. "I know, they gave it to Hope. She wouldn't stop crying and they couldn't reach you so they paged me but I have surgery in an hour," he says.
"Alright, give her to me," I say. He walks over and places Hope in my arms.
"Have you given her any medicine?" I ask as I lay her on my chest. "Yes, she didn't like it but she was able to keep it down," he says running his hand over her head.
"Is she fed and clean?" I ask. "Yes, I fed her after I gave her medicine and changed her afterwards," he says.
"Alright, I'll take her from here," I say. "Thank you," he kisses my lips before leaving.
The MRI scans come up on the computer and I print them out. I grab the scans and leave the MRI room.
I give the results to the family and once I'm done with the patient I leave the room and push some surgeries before going downstairs.
I've taken shifts in the morgue and it's pretty quiet down there so I take the elevator there.
I sit down in the chair before getting to work. I usually don't like working in the morgue because I'm not the biggest fan of dead bodies and touching them but it's much quieter down here so I come down here a lot with Hope and the twins when they won't stop crying.
Right now Hope is pretty quiet and I need to do something with both my hands so I gently place her in one of the empty beds down here and place two pillows beside her.
I roll the bed close to me so she's in my sight. Once I finish I take Hope who is now sleeping and take her back upstairs.
As I'm on my way to daycare I run into the dumb intern again.
"Oh, H-hi, Dr. Grey," she says. "Hi Renee," I say walking past her and then go to the daycare center.
I gently place Hope into the little crib as she continues to sleep. I signed some papers before leaving the daycare centre.

Derek and I are in the on-call room cuddling after two rounds of sex.
Derek's already fallen asleep and I'm just about to fall asleep when I hear a knock at the door.
"Dr. shepherd?" I hear the dumb intern. I groan quietly as I gently cover Derek's ears so he doesn't wake up and wait for her to leave.
Derek doesn't have any surgeries any time soon and no patients to tend to and if there was an emergency they would have paged him but he hasn't gotten any pages.
"Dr. Shepherd, I know you're in there. I watched you go in with your wife!" She says. If she knows we're alone in here then why is she knocking when we're most likely having sex?!
"Your mother is here to pick up the kids, shouldn't you come out to her?" She says. Carolyn isn't even in town. She's in Connecticut visiting Nancy.
After a few minutes, she finally leaves. I remove my hands and lay my head on his chest to go back to sleep.
"Ow!" I heard her bump into what sounded like a gurney. "Watch where you're going!" I hear Arizona yell at her.
Derek stirs lightly but goes back to sleep. "Was it a dream or was someone actually at the door?" He groans as he wakes up.
"Your stupid intent came to tell you that you're mothers here to pick up the kids," I say closing my eyes with my arm draped over his stomach.
"My mom's out of town," he says. "I know," I say. "What did you tell her?" He asks. "I told her nothing. I just covered your ears until she left and then she walked into a gurney and Robbins yelled at her," I say.
"Tell Robbins thank you," he says as he starts to fall asleep. I fell asleep shortly after.
