Derek.

it's been a few weeks now and Cristina's finally came back to the hospital. she said she had to visit her mother in California and she couldn't take Theo with her.

Meredith spoke to her a few times but she's only briefly mentioned Theo. Burke said he was going to pick up Theo a couple of days ago but he hasn't stopped by the house or picked him up from daycare, he leaves before Meredith and I do so we have to take him home or else he spend the night at the hospital.

Meredith and I already have two kids and another on the way. when the baby comes we won't be able to care for our three children and someone else's.

but Meredith and I are going to be looking at some temporary houses. Meredith's apartment has three bedrooms which is a lot for an apartment but with three children we'll need four.

I plan on building us a house. I can make the house fit for our family. of course, there will be more than four bedrooms, a few guest bedrooms and a few other rooms in case we decide to have more children in the future.

we've talked about moving to another city... a lot has happened in Seattle and Meredith has brought up that she wants to move away from. she wants the kids to grow up somewhere they don't have any bad memories, a fresh start.

I mentioned New York and Meredith's mentioned Boston, we're still not sure on where we want to go but we'll look at a few houses and then decide on which ones look best.

"we're starting with New York, near Derek's mother's and then we'll go to Boston. in New York, we'll bring the kids to my mother's while we're gone.

but we're not sure what to do with Theo when we leave for New York again. I told Meredith we would just stop by their apartment and drop Theo off before we leave.

Meredith says she would feel bad if she just dropped him off at their place. She says she would feel like she would be abandoning him, even though he's not technically our responsibility and we can't take him with us to New York, that would be kidnapping.

I called Burke again today and he said it would drop by in a few hours but he hasn't stopped by.

"Theo's asking where his Dad is and the Miles is in time out for hitting Theo because he was asking where his dad was too many times," Meredith says as she comes out of the Miles' room.

"Burke hasn't called, texted, or stopped by so I can't give you an answer," I say as she walks over to me.

"I love Theo but I can't be more than an aunt to him. The baby comes in a couple of months and we still have a lot of shopping to do, and we have to find a place to live that will be big enough for three kids," she wraps her arms around my waist.

"You shouldn't stress about it, stress isn't good for you or the baby. I've already taken care of a lot of the shopping part... we already have a crib and we still have some of the twin's clothes so we'll have clothes no matter what the gender is," I wrap my arms around her.

"What about Cristina? Has she called, have you spoken to her at all?" She asks.

"No, I'm afraid not," I say. "We can't keep him here... we're leaving in a few weeks and neither of them is stepping up... should we call his grandparents?" She asks.

"Which ones? Cristina's mother is in California," I say. "Maybe we should call Burke's mother," she says.

"Do you have her number?" I ask. "Unfortunately. Cristina didn't have a cellphone when they got married so she gave me her number," she says.

"Call her and tell her the situation," I say softly. She nods before she pulls away and leaves to call Burke's mother.

I don't understand why Burke and Cristina don't step up as parents. I guess I can't really talk because I left for the first two years of my kid's lives, but I didn't do that because I didn't want to be a father, I left because I thought if I stayed I wouldn't be able to give them the childhood I wanted them to have, but thankfully Mallory and Miles won't remember any of that.

but Burke wanted to have Theo, he made her have a child. And Cristina almost got an abortion, she shouldn't have let Burke force her and she had an appointment but she cancelled it because of guilt.

But she knew she didn't want kids and Burke wanted kids and now he can't do the bare minimum and pick him up.

Meredith is an amazing mother. She was always scared of not being enough for them but she's been more than enough for them.

Most women wouldn't have taken back a person in my position no matter how sad the backstory is.

She didn't have to take my back and she has every right to not want me in her life or the kids.

But I'm glad she did because I don't know what I would do without her and now we're having another baby, moving to another city, and I plan on building a house for my family... I couldn't ask for a better girlfriend and kids.

I couldn't ask for a better life than the one I have now.
