Meredith.

There's this intern that works at the hospital and she's in love with Derek. Today she's on my service today.

She doesn't even try to hide her fascination with Derek around the hospital. She always talks about him at work and when I walk past her she stops and asks me about Derek.

She asks how he's doing, and what surgeries he has, she even asks about the kids but more specifically Miles. I think it's because Miles looks most like Derek out of all the kids.

At first, I thought it was just a small crush but now I'm starting to think it's more of a fascination, an addiction.

I trust Derek and I'm not worried about him but it's progressed to Miles. That's my biggest problem with her.

She sort of stalks him in a way. Some days she'll call in sick and then come into work just to watch either Derek or Miles and other times both.

But my main concern is Miles since I don't know what she's capable of and I'm worried she might do something.

She never watches any of the other kids, she doesn't care for Mallory or Hope, just Miles.

And she's very weird when Miles is outside of daycare. Sometimes I'll have the twins with me or I'll take Hope for a walk around one of the emptier floors to calm her down.

When I have Miles she doesn't ask me any questions, she mostly talks to Miles and asks him about his day, and what his favourite colour is.

She even managed to find out he plays soccer and talks about that.

Derek doesn't think she'll be a concern with him, but he does think she's a concern with Miles. I always keep a good eye on Mallory out in public because I've dealt with my fair share of creepy old men even when I was a child like Mallory but my mother taught me about how to deal with it and how to react and what to do.

We've taught both the kids about stranger danger but we've also taught them to be especially careful when it comes to older men.

they don't entirely know why but they know to be careful so they don't get kidnapped, murdered, or worse.

I'm sitting in the chair waiting for the MRI scan to come up with Miles sitting on my lap. he was in daycare but the nurse said he was feeling sick and cried for me for twenty minutes.

"Mommy, hide me," Miles whispers as he pulls open my lab coat and hides inside it. I look over to my right and see the intern that's been bothering him.

"You're safe with me," I whisper as I pull myself closer to the desk and put my arm on the table so he's covered.

she glances at me for a second before she continues walking. "Hey, have you seen Miles? I visited the girls but Miles wasn't there," Derek says as he walks into the room.

"He's hiding from the new intern," I say pulling my lab coat open. "No, Mama," He pulls it back. "It's okay, it's just Daddy. He couldn't find you in daycare," I say.

he peeks out from behind my coat. Derek smiles at him.

he climbs out of my lap and runs over to Derek. he picks him up and places him on his chest. he lays his head on his chest and wraps his arms around his neck.

"So he's really shaken up by the new intern?" he says rubbing him back and swaying back to forth.

"I think it just makes him uncomfortable, she does it every time she sees him. if it was only sometimes I don't think it would bother him so much," I say.

"Is he okay? he feels warm," he says.

"The nurses said feeling well and he wouldn't stop crying until I came and got him. I walked him down the empty hallway until he stopped crying and the older patients enjoy seeing him because he's cute," I say.

"Did you get him a check-up?" he asks. "Yes, I think it's just a stomach bug. it should be gone in two weeks," I say.

"Maybe I should get my mom to take him back home, he's burning and he looks pale," he says. "He got that from me," I say.

"Meredith, I'm serious," he says. "Look at you being such a caring father," I smile teasingly as I lean back and look at him.

"Meredith," he says sternly. "Fine, call your mother. he could use the rest and I don't have to worry about what her name bothering him in daycare while he has a fever," I say.

"You want to go home with Grandma? she'll give you some medicine and you can take a nap," he whispers in his ear.

"In Mama and Dada's bed?" he asks. I smile. "Yes, you can sleep in our bed," he says. he kisses his head before leaving the room.

**********

I get home a lot later than I hoped. Derek got off a lot earlier than I did so he took the girls home.

When I get inside the house is completely dark. I take off my shoes and hang up my coat.

I place my bag down and quietly walk through the house and go into the bedroom.

I open the bedroom door and see Derek laying in bed with Mallory on his chest and Miles tucked between his arm and chest.

I walk over to the bassinet where Hope is supposed to be sleeping. I see as she's awake quietly playing with her little hands.

"You're supposed to be sleeping," I whisper kissing her forehead.

I roll her cot into the bathroom and so she's not alone while I shower.

After my shower, I dried off and dressed in my silk pyjamas. I see that she's fallen asleep.

I quickly change her diaper and take her back into the bedroom and get into bed. I roll her cot next to me before going to bed.
