I'll help you

"Excuse me," I entered the third café. "I just wanted to ask if you need anyone helping out." I've been attempting for an hour already. "Ah you're searching for a part time job?" She questioned with a small sigh. "Yes," I responded. "Thing is, a few asked us this week already and we already have enough. You should've came earlier," she shrugged, so I just headed off again. Ugh, why was it so hard finding something?

I checked my phone for any rest places near, until I accidentally bumped into someone who seemed to drop things. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry." I bowed down to pick up the cartons that fell. A woman took them back. She looked quite young, but I was sure she already was over thirty. She had tattoos travelling up her arm, which were noticeable due to her wearing a black top. She almost looked like she once joined the millitary with her black tied up hair and almost severe expression. "It's okay," she sighed. "Let me help you carry them," I insisted. "Where should I head to?" I questioned as she just pointed forward.

I followed her into an empty small store. "Are you the new owner?" I asked, looking around. "You can place it down here." She ignored my question. I fulfilled her wish. "Are you gonna turn this into a Café?", "Yes, thanks for helping." She turned her back towards me. "Are you going to own this alone?" She only headed past me. This was my chance. Also, she seemed like my style. I like her already. As soon as she bent down to pick up more things, I went to help. "I don't need help." She grabbed them out of my hands. "That's what I always say too..but deep down I'm still happy when someone stays resistant." She sceptical looked me up and down before speaking up. "Hasn't anyone told you before that you shouldn't speak that open with strangers", "education qualities were always lacking in my family. I taught myself," I casually responded. She kept quiet until she pressed a box into my hand. "Then help me carry it if you insist to."

"So? Do you already have someone helping out? When are you going to open?" I asked when I placed down another box inside. "How long are you going to keep asking? You're just supposed to carry and then leave," she spoke. "I search for a part time job. I wanna get money." She turned her head towards me. "You look inexperienced. Also, for what do children need money these days? Don't you get that from home?", "It's not that easy. Also, I'm a fast learner," I explained. "Not easy? You probably don't even know what's rough. I don't need help, I'm always well on my own." I let out a small scoff. "Right, if you say so. Also, being well on your own firstly goes great, until you realise that if a hard time comes, you eventually crave for someone to listen to you. Believe me, I know how it is. But fine, I'll leave." I turned around. "After I helped you carry."

"What's your name?" She moody questioned before I could exit. "Kim Taerim." The woman sighed, taking an apron. It had a white name tag on it as she wrote down my name. She threw it into my hands. "Come back in two days at 6:30 in the morning. If you really want to help me, then count in hard work, and if you won't do well, I'm not gonna pay you." A smile crawled upon my face. "I'll do my best...also, how much will you pay me?" She let out a judgeful huff. "Depends on how good you are. I don't set limits yet."

I got a job, finally. But why does it feel like it's gonna be stressful? 6:30?? In my summer break too? This seems more like a full-time thing. However, firstly I'm glad I have something.

"You did nothing?" He questioned meanwhile I had him on speaker. "No, I was just chilling in my bed." I wasn't going to tell him about me literally having to do a job to get to money. That's somehow a bit awkward for me. "And you? Tell me everything about your day," I insisted. He turned quiet before my screen changed by him requesting a video call. I blinked several times before quickly fixing my.. Well, everything. My phone was just laying on my mattress, so I had to pick it up. "Good to see you," he commented, laying in bed. "Haven't we seen each other yesterday?" No, but honestly, I wouldn't mind being with him right now either. He somehow looked so comfy with his messy hair and hoodie on..a bit handsome if I'm honest. "So?", "You know.. I'm afraid some girls might steal you from me." I rolled onto my stomach. "Me? They could try, but I would obviously reject." I smiled a bit. "So you tell me they haven't yet.. Well exept that weird other girl who picked up your phone." He seemed to remember. "Right, that one. She's been trying. I don't know what her mission is, but she reminds me a lot of Mira, which I do not like. She's been approaching me a lot." I'm glad he's honest about it. "I knew she was someone like that, but doesn't she know we're dating?" He nodded. "I told her several times." I scoffed quietly. "Wow really..I don't like her" Minho chuckled a bit. "What? Are you jealous?", "how can I be? I know you don't want her. I trust you." His face softened weakly, giving me assurance by smiling. "Well, whatever. Your day?" I got back to my actual question. "Nothing much, but you seem like you want to know details. I woke up and ate breakfast and did the usual stuff in the morning." As soon as he started, I already was interested. He barely talks about him. "Then I went into the university and participated. Usually... it's not even that hard. I knew a lot in advance and just noted everything down and raised my hand if I knew anything. I went to eat lunch and afterwards studied a bit...I came back home and went through some stuff since I soon have a test," he explained. "Sounds like a decent day. And the people? Do you get along with some?" I asked. "Yeah, well, they're nice, I guess. A few boys have already approached me, and sometimes I join them eating, but I usually tend to go alone because I don't wanna lose focus. The ones who have been here longer seem more mature, though, so I sometimes have a chat, I don't know. I enjoyed the people at home more, though." I rested my chin on my arm. "Hm, sounds alright. Who do you miss here, though?" I asked. "Not saying missing, but the atmosphere of people were better there. I had Jisung over a lot, I knew a lot of people in school, and your friends seemed more chill to be around with, too. Well, and obviously, the fact that you are not there." I smiled a bit. "Yeah, school days with you were always something. I miss it. It probably will be noticeable that you're gone as soon as I return..I don't know, you always had a pretty obvious presence, especially in my case." He huffed. "I never let you alone." I nodded. "Yup, you tried quite hard to get at me", "and I succeed" If I could, I'd probably slap his arm right now. "Yeah, you did, Minho." He turned onto his side, closing his eyes. "Tell me something." I couldn't because I just wanted to get lost by looking at him. His eyes were pretty when they were open, but also when they were closed. His long lashes were even more noticeable. The way his cheekbones and nose made his face look so unique and distinctive. The way his lips looked so soft that you get lost in them as soon as I kiss him. Especially the way his hair covered half of his forehead and slightly touched the tip of his nose. "You're pretty." I didn't mean to say that out loud. He slowly opened his eyes, looking back at me. "So this is what you say when I request you to tell me something." He couldn't help his smile to come out. "Yeah, you don't like it?", "no, I do a lot. Tell me again," he insisted. "No, this was a rare thing." I cut the topic off.
