Minho's POV
"Min, she's so cute, right?" Taerim held the cat up, pecking its head.
Her face was glowing, lightening the whole room up.
If I'd look at her smile for one second longer, my heart would be in pain telling me how much I love her.
"Yeah, really cute," I returned the smile. A moment passed of her realising how acted the reaction was.
She wants everything to be great and perfect and normal.. I ruined it, again.
Taerim was determined to visit the cat café. I could see how much joy it brought to her, as well as I could see how much she told herself it's all solved out.
She was convinced I said it because I was confused, that it would be forgotten now.
I got ripped out of my thoughts by a cat getting placed right onto my lap.
She was beige and had long and fluffy fur.
"Teddy. That's her name." I met eyes with Taerim. "That's what her collar says." My hand gently patted her head, watching it lay down onto my lap.
I lifted my gaze, noticing how she had taken a picture. "It just looks cute," she defended herself. A smile crawled upon her lips as she tucked a string of her behind her ear, scanning the photo she took. She hasn't been doing it anymore: tying her hair up.
"Are you gonna post it?" I asked.
"Can I not? You also upload us."
A small sigh escaped me, searching the floor for a possible answer. If she now shares our happy relationship, people are going to hate on her even worse if I left her.
"Actually..Uh, let's go eat something," she spoke, rather hasty.
"Already?" Her mouth opened, but no response came for a second. "I'm just hungry.. I guess." She wasn't. We just ate breakfast. She just wanted to lift the mood or break the uncomfortable atmosphere we couldn't escape.
"Ahh, I'm so happy," she spoke, holding onto my arm while walking. "That I'm with you, that things are going well for me and.." I lowered my head.
And? Count one more thing and I'll believe that all your saying is just ironic. That you just want to fix all which really can't be helped at all right now. Not after I said the complete opposite. You're trying to prove me that you wouldn't be happier in any way if I left you. That I'm already giving you anything you need in order to be truly pleased.
My feet came to a halt after hers did.
I dared to scan her face, but she seemed to be deep in thought.
"And that.." She sighed. "..I was just happy to arrive here. I have really no idea why you felt like destroying it from one minute to another. Tell me Minho.. Do you really think I could find happiness if we end this? Do you know how much in my life is connected to you? How much I have right now or where I am because of you? Not only you'd be gone.. but literally my motivation. I wouldn't wanna stand up. I wouldn't want to capture each moment because there'd simply be none I would like to share with people. They'd all be upset ones no one wants to see. I've been there once already..in bed three days straight because you left me. I don't wanna know how it'd be now."
A breeze of cold wind caused her hair to softly fly along. Her upset and disappointed expression was something I'd never want to see again. It was breaking something in me. Right, was I really so stupid to think I could live without her? I needed her so much more than I thought. Each minute without her is hell, and I expect me to forget her? I'd torture myself with that. I'd torture her with that.
I even felt like I wasn't looking at the stubborn and unlively Taerim anymore, who was wearing her school uniform with pants underneath her skirt and a threatening attitude. She was more like a young woman. Like her features had softened or some, like her smile would be more sincere now. Like she'd break easily if I said something mean to her.. Like she do would care and affect her if I ended up saying something hurtful.
I brought my hand up, caressing her head.
"Don't do that," she gazed at me.
"Men always do that..the ones who break hearts." I slowly lifted my hand again, pulling it back.
"How do you know?" I raised my eyebrows, almost unnoticeable.
She swallowed, breaking eye contact. "Well, I watch dramas, hm?" I small, soundless huff escaped me.
"Right. Because the men in dramas are pretty realistic," I sarcastically spoke. "They are. You're like one of them." That visually took me off guard. "It would be under top ten of the list on Netflix. A typical player who seems to be stealing all the hearts, but in reality is way too fragile... Girls love these type of romances...or better, those type of guys. They root for the couple till the end." She kept silent for a moment. "And the guy always comes around the corner with stupid excuses to end their relationship just because he thinks the female lead deserves something better. For me personally, those dramas are not entertaining to watch," she said. "Now you know that those shows tend to be more realistic than you thought," I told her. "First books, now dramas..let's keep it real," Taerim whiny complained. "You started this," I furrowed my eyebrows. "And you continued," she threw back. "A-ah no, however. You're right, it's real life." I tried setting the escalating conversation to an end. Which meant just agreeing with her.
