deal with it alone

I was about to throw the ball right up into the basket before someone held their hand in front of it. I faced the reason who just made my day worse, seeing those guys who ran after me and Minho. "Hm, is your boyfriend not here to help you?" He pouted, pitying me ironicly, which only caused me to cringe. "He's not in school today, but I'll manage to deal with you alone." I snatched the ball away from him, giving it a small throw to make it hit his forehead. He closed his eyes for a moment, exhaling deeply. "Wow really, you annoy me already. You're a girl, you can't talk like that. But when I take a look at you properly... You don't even look like one. Long pants, tied up hair and nearly no make up." I scoffed. "No wonder you get no bitches." His eyebrow twitched. "What did you say?" I watched his jaw clench. "Fine, then I won't have to behave like one in front of you." I went past him, purposingly hitting mine against his shoulder.

Suddenly I got pulled back by my hair, leaving me in slight pain. He held me close to his face. "You aren't allowed to do that. Our school is different with treating people," I hissed. "I won't have to use violence if you do what I say." He started "What?" I fastly stepped forward making him weakly flinch, so I freed myself out of his grip. "Funny, you're not that strong as I thought you'd be." He held his hand up making two other guys hold onto my arms. "Listen, Kim Taerim, you care about Minho, right? If you want him to get out of this without any harm...Break up with him and we will leave him alone and won't tell his whole family story in the school. Okay?" I huffed a bit. "Why should I?" He rolled his eyes in response. "He likes you dumbass. If he's hurt afterwards, we'll be happy and can fully expose him. My god, you're a hopeless piece of shit. No one even needs you in their life. You heard me, parasite. You're ugly, seem poor, and can't even act nice. Who would want you?" Before these words could imprint themselves into my brain, he suddenly got pulled backwards. "Hey, enough," Ji-kyoung spoke up, followed by the rest. "Don't you have something better to do than mocking a girl?" He questioned. "And who are you?" He looked up to him. "We are the ones that do want her. She's nice and pretty as well. Just fuck off and head back to your own school." He pushed him off as two others pulled the guys who still held me away.

He hesitantly decided to leave with the rest. "Are you fine?" I hit his arm. "Stupid, you can't even fight. That's what you said... and about the nice words of you, ew," I mumbled. "You're bad at showing thankfulness. Don't act like it didn't affect you what he said, neither like you didn't like what I mentioned about you, so," he paused. "Are you alright, Taerim?" I blinked a few times before giving him a slow nod. "I could've handled that on my own, though. He just provokes me anyway," I responded. "Doesn't matter. They need to know that you ain't standing alone." With that, they left once again. I started to look down on myself. Pants, badly tied tie and dirty shoes... I started to question why Minho said all those things about me. He said he liked my hair, the way I do it, also the fact that I'm not boring like everyone else. All the things that other people usually use against me. Also I've been having a bad attitude, but he said he likes that as well. Listening to myself... I sound so stupid.

Would I rather break up with Minho, considering the fact that he would probably do that soon on his own and safe him from being bothered and exposed like that?... Or should I just stick with him in order that I can support his suffering.

Minho's POV

"They all seem to like you, son," my mother spoke up as I loosened my tie which slowly cut away my breath. "Nice to know," I lazily responded. "You're going to be successful just like me. Be more enthusiastic." I cleared my throat. "Why couldn't I have gone there in the afternoon, though?", "Why? Wasn't it great getting away from school sometimes?" She suppressed a smile. "Not really," I mumbled.

"Isn't that.." My mother mumbled, so I faced the direction she had focused on. "Hey hey stop the car," I requested. "Don't talk to me like that." I swallowed. "I'm sorry, can you please let me out?" My eyes kept their focus on Taerim. "How are you gonna get home? Do you wanna go to her or what?" I nodded.
